      Ronald

Sounds like a beautiful bow. I shoot mostly 50 -55 lb bows these days also…

My shrew Samurai is the bow I shoot wood arrows in most of the time. I’ll order some Spruce after the holidays.

        Hi George

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to take so long to respond.  I have been having problems getting into the forum….

What bows do you shoot? I mostly shoot my Centaurs in the 50 – 55 lb and my shrew…

          Hi Ronald

Sorry to take so long to respond , I haven’t been able to get to the site for a couple of days.

The Wallace Recurve is probably one of the finest recurve bows out there( gorgeous too). I am not surprised it shot great. I mostly shoot carbon arrows ( when I want high efoc ) or port Orford cedar for regular hunting….or just because..

I think I just might check out addictive archery and order some Sitka Spruce for myself. I think it’s time to try something different…

            PS

I agree with Steve, wool clothing( earth tones and plaids) works just dandy.

As Richard mentioned lack of movement is the prime concern…..IMHO

              Craig

I think you are on the right road this time … being overbowed causes a lot of problems,  as  you found out….

Going to a 40lb bow ( especially a take down , with interchangeable limbs ) is exactly the perfect plan .

Form is everything in trad bow…

I used to go out to the NF here in NM  like webmom . Make a family outing of it and select a Christmas  tree. This year I bought a live Spruce that I will Plant after the season is over….

                  Grand Thanksgiving to all here.

My reading of history of that time and place, I think paleomans comment is appropriate.  Irregardless nothing  prevents all of us today ( except lack of interest) from gathering together and giving thanks for the bounty we have here in the US…

I wish you all a great day

                    Happy Thanksgiving to all

I have not shot Spruce So do not have a pertinent opinion. I am curious to see Ron’s comments.

I am unfortunately in the same situation with my mother. Thus I won’t be out much this year.

I wish everyone great hunting success or just a fine day in the woods!

Yes , I have seen his videos .. I think he is doing a good job of explaining the science behind the Ashby studies ( especially the visualization). I also like that he is continuing on to learn more about Broadhead/Arrow lethality…

Sounds like you are having an enjoyable hunt. All the G&F orgs are going computerized out here in the west. The E tag thing is kinda odd , hard to use well in some areas.

I Didn’t draw anything in NM. Az is now only giving out a limited number of otc tags for archery deer, used to be a reliable option for a yr like this.

Killed my 1st archery deer with my Shakespeare Ocala ( Bear razorhead) on the Letterkenney Army depot in 1970. Very much enjoyed hunting in PA in the “Olden Times”…

Have a great hunt , good luck on filling your tag…

                              I agree with everyone 😁

At the the closer ranges we usually shoot , one can get away with a pretty crooked arrow ( primitive tack ) but I think for fine accuracy ( especially at longer ranges) tuned , balanced,  and straight is probably best imho…although I have shot ok, on occasion, with some pretty decrepit arrows.

                                Steve

As usual can’t rely on any of the news orgs anymore. I guess we are just hearing the sensational oddities or the cheaper poorly designed brands, having battery issues . I thought I would wait a bit before getting into the EV mkt – till they got more of the bugs worked out..

The old hunting truck 2011 Toyota Tacoma is getting a little tired, but at 170, 000 miles still has another 100 thousand to go….might even be able to pick up a good used EV by then…. haha

Let us know how you like the new Tesla after you have hunted with it a bit. It’s one of the models that interests me..

I had a jeep Cherokee back in the 80s that was a great hunting vehicle.. just strapped elk racks on the top…

With people buying more electric vehicles. We should have a lot less traffic noise, which I heartily welcome

I understand the replacement of their batteries is quite expensive though…
