I have the Eagles Flight quiver on my Shrews [ both 54″ ]and I use the Larger cap [ Jumbo i think ] as I am currently using tuffheads – a long BH. I am very satisfied with this model for my needs–

PS If you decide to go this route—get the model without the brace { totem}, or request the brace made to the short distance of the shrew riser which eagle will do. I have one of each – both work fine – had them [use em hunting /shoot daily]2yrs now -no breakage /repair

Not trying to seem argumentative –
I have only had minor strech with my latest shrew strings? I am also a {shrew]newbie as I have only shot shrews for a couple years.
I unstring at end of use? { mostly daily }I was wondering if you leave your’s strung for longer periods [ as I understand a lot of folks do]? causing more strech?
Havn’t tried the SBDs – heard great things about em – I will give them a try soon.

in reply to: SBD bowstrings? #13787Nothing wrong with the “stock Strings That come with the shrew”!
Shoot more – shoot a lot with any good string!—it is the shooting!! [ properly done ] that matters in the end–in the field.
all of us worry too much about the Equipment{myself included} — worry more about your Commitment to skill — it can make average Equipement do marvelous things–and make a great finish to your hunt.

in reply to: Is camo necessary? #13777we have all done some pretty exotic things – once!, by luck! or
odd circumstance – —
A change of Parameters !?- for this thread——
What type of Camo or clothing -would you wear – if after that “REALLY” SPECIAL Game Animal! The one you have wanted all your life – “The Dream hunt”*
for myself –if just out for a afternoon/morning bow frolic, earth tone clothes usually suffice. However, I have gone all the way to Face Paint – Ghillie suit, when after game that is hard to draw [once every 4,5+yrs in some cases]It would seem for me that having as much good, camo matching the terrain as I can, gives me more confidence when after a more difficult/coveted game animal —

* A term I find aggravating in it’s commonality today–
The shrew is a “very light bow” { I have owned 4, 2 are favored hunting bows, another TD on order] with a small grip. I have found {for me personally}one needs to hold a “very strong bow arm” Ie, Lock it up ! and of course – “a Perfect Release” – A bow Quiver { more weight /stability} helps. Light bows are wonderfull to carry in the Mtns* – Tough to shoot –Practice!!. Be carefull, not to push your thumb too deep – because of the small grip- [easy to grip too much to the right -twist]-allows string to hit forearm—

* one of the reasons Mr P & I like em-
Ps – Yes it is a longbow — but a Hybrid — Why I like it!!– but not a classic Longbow –
I started my longbow shooting { 1972 } with John Schults long bows { great bows from a long long time ago & a galaxy far far away–haha ——IMHO the best Of the HH Bows——

Thanks for the info and the show and tell — definitely going to pick one up. Familiar with the grind, but enjoyed the video.
Too bad it wasn’t fall, that grouse looked in range–haha

Nice Knife, a true classic! I looked over the BRKT line –
good selection. I am thinking of a fox river — fancy wood. I noticed they varied the way they make the different models. does one just order what he wants or find who is selling the variant one desires.
Is that sheephorn on yours—?

in reply to: Grizzly broadheads, redux #56745The Main difference between the others[sb-bh] Dave has mentioned and the tuffhead, [at least the ones I have handled]that I have noticed.
The Tuffhead has a thicker ferrule{main body] portion which extends almost all the way to the point. the point seems thicker than the others. Which should lend itself to less deformation on hard impacts, and more ability to split bone-

in reply to: Spectacles! #55537I find I hunt better { spot game quicker/easier }, and shoot better [ more accurately pick a spot – especially at extended ranges]wearing my spectacles! It did take me awhile to get used to using my glasses, but I much prefer hunting with them now! for me anyway. The wilderness is so much prettier when you can see it well -haha. Now if I could fix my hearing—-

Nice Bull – looked like you got pretty close! I hope you get another chance at em.
easier to close on em in that[rainforest type}cover, probably difficult to set up a good shot?
Did you get some folks to join you for fall hunting camp?
