in reply to: Which carbons? #50010I agree with Mr Graf -The gold tip is one of the easier arrows to work with if you are after efoc.I have them for shooting in my shrews { 56lb@27} 55-75 gold tips total tip weight including inserts 425 wTHeads.
I believe Dave’s arrow is for his 53# shrew but don’t remember his head setup other than I know it is also a Tuffhead. [ His CE is a “300”spine the equivelent in axis would be the 340 axis which is a “300”, Axis 400 is 400 spine]. As Mr Graf stated, check- the grs per inch. Just because an arrow/s is a “300” doesn’t mean they will shoot the same out of the same bow.
think of it as a General spine range. At least that is my experience.
I like the axis when I can get them tuned to a bow, as they are very thin -hopeing for better penetration.
the Carbon express arrow n#s just relate to each other – IE the CE250 is .373 spine and 11 grs per inch –Yea I know I get confused too, but each company is different and finding actual spine numbers can be a workout haha.

in reply to: Kustom King #49435I have yet to have a problem with orders from 3 rivers /KK that they did not solve if something seemed awry from their end. Luckily all my Packages “so Far” from these 2 companies do not look “broken into” or “damaged” on the road, and I hope it remains that way. I have managed to have good service from all the “wells Fargo wagons” Fed EX -UpS -USPS ,but I have gotten to know the drivers & postal people——

in reply to: First Osage Bow **Updated w/ Pics** #48965Jeremy –
Been thru the area.
Most people don’t realize how good the Hunting is in NE.
A lot of birds and small game of course — but there are BIG Mule deer and Whitetails there! and More Antelope and even Elk in the West/Nwest parts.
Good luck !

in reply to: twisted limb check? #45958as already mentioned by handirifle, looking down the string will usually show up any twist in the tips–
When I string my bow I always Double check – to be sure the string is actually in the groove of the string nock.
—-Once I strung up and visually checked [ which I do everytime] and noticed one side was off — maybe this happened to you?
always good to check the nocks on each limb before shooting IMHO

in reply to: So I got a ghillie #45938Thanks Doc-
I have a “upper body & head” Ghillie – that I have adjusted to allow good shooting with my bow. I have always “changed” it to fit the environment color/hue/shagginess [varying length of material] etc – hadn’t thought of using B&W photos to check brightness – great tip!

I also spent a little time at “Horno”in the 70s.
“Rattlesnake canyon” is on the road to Mainside if you went to 1st Mar Div HQ { main PX is over that way} Although just about any canyon on Pendleton could be called Rattlesnake –Haha
and Welcome Bud B !
