Great choices – those will be beautiful, easy shooting bows. Jim is a gentleman, easy to deal with, and will build you a fine bow/s
Happy shooting

All the above – any of the arrows mentioned, if matched to your bow would work fine. Wood might be preferred, as it was the standard in Ben Pearsons heyday. The more traditional choice, so too speak.

Yes , ” Splice the mainbrace ” is not common parlance anymore. Mostly, Naval Service personal will recognize it – older ones anyway – haha.
I hope everybody here has a great – extended to the weekend- Holiday

Some pics of a few of my Centaurs
Upper pix – back bow is the ” Copperhead ” bow – 56″ 51lb @25 – snakeskin on bow and eagles flite quiver – avatar pix bow.
Close bow- takedown – 56″ 55 lb@ 25 elk antler – juniper in limbs
I like juniper ( good shot of it here) – I end up hunting in and around it a lot, in NM. If you expand this pix you can see the thumbrest and golf ball stippling I like.
Same bows above
Below is a 54 ” 53lb @ 26 – this is one of my 2 regular shooters – bow is mostly carbon
Last 2 pics are of the ” Copperhead” – last one shows the grey glass.
Light to carry and they shoot just fine. One has to practice continually and ” stay in the zone” as these bows are light and short. More difficult to be consistent with than heavier / longer bows of course.

I hope some tradbow techie comes up with a solution.
Ken burns Vietnam is well done. Good to remember all the great folks who fought for our freedoms over the years . Thanks to all the veterans out there – past – present and future- Siempre-
Love that pork bbq. Wish I was with friends in Texas- I would be feral hog hunting and if successful, having same for supper – always a hoot — Eh R2 ?

in reply to: centaur bows #132611Yes, my snake skin bow is dark, can’t see it well in avatar . It is a very smooth shooting bow. A lot of good pics on the website. I don’t think you will be disappointed with any of his bow variations. I have been happy with all mine. I found one of Jim’s early bows used, tried it, liked it so much I ordered one from him – been doing that periodically ever since -haha.

Sorry I can’t help. I read my tradbow on a Samsung galaxy. Works good there.
Maybe one of the other folks who have I phone will chime in with a suggestion, or the final answer- Webmom.
Good luck and have a great independence day —

My avatar is a Centaur 56″ 51lb @ 25( with Javelina) . It is, i believe one of the few Jim built with grey Glass – snakeskin on it also. I have a no# of his bows, including a takedown. I like his work a lot. Builds a beautiful and fast bow. Especially enjoy the way he fits them to my hand ( I like his thumbrest option). I prefer R/D ” short” longbows haha. Unfortunately not mentioned in the recent tradbow article on bow types.
I will try to take some pix and post them later today, if I fail I will see if webmom will do it tomorrow ( holiday )

Have a great day ! Limited fireworks around here in the Southwest. Too much fire danger.
Splice the mainbrace!

Interesting stools shown in the review. Some of them look very comfortable, but heavy / bulky. For my hunting style here in the Southwest I like the hammock seat ( light, easy to carry, although in some areas it is unusable due to lack of trees). Don’t do cross leg sitting much anymore due to a knee issue – always good to practice from though. Thanks for the link. I enjoyed seeing some of the current type of packable hunting seats.

Great idea. Thanks for bringing this back up. Always good to review.
I was just thinking about starting to sort out all my broadheads for the fall- early this season (older I get the longer it takes me to get ready it seems -). I use a vise also. Especially for reforming a badly beat up broadhead. I normally use a new head for big game. Due to the nature of small game hunting and broadhead practice, the older heads get refurbished and used in descending order.
I always enjoy ” king would be” posts. I Started pig hunting in CA. Would love to go where he does. He hunts up some large hogs! —Love hunting pigs —- always fun.
Thanks again

Congrats to Brian on an excellent article. I especially commend his patience and perseverance on his follow up. He turned a difficult situation into a successful hunt. It is a very well written account of solving a problem most folks tend to avoid writing about – but happens to all sooner or later. Lessons there- and a good reminder-
Well done !
