You bet, glad I could help, and it is good to hear you are getting back into trad archery. I was dormant for awhile myself, but returned in force a few years ago.

We hope to see you here often–

I shoot with the cock feather out(away) because that is how I learned (a long while back), and it was the trad standard. I am not sure it matters to the practical archer. My goal is to be consistent in how I shoot – because consistency enhances precision. So I still shoot cock feather out – but

I am a shoot for fun and practice for hunting archer. I can normally keep my arrows in a tea cup at 20yds ( when shooting regularly). I shoot barebow / instinctive and my current bows are close to center shot. I just did my daily shoot this afternoon ( RD longbow / carbon arrow / 3 feathers) and changed the fletch position every other shot and could not see any difference in my group accuracy or point of impact. Different type of bow (less center shot ) or arrow ( thicker) might be an issue. I have done this in the past with the same results. What made me curious years ago, was if I grabbed an arrow and hastily shot it under stress without the cock feather out ? What would happen? Nothing bad so far, for what I do anyway and my level of accuracy.

Maybe Stephen will wade in and give us the bowyers perspective or some science here. Any body else out there play with this, or know of any tests ?

I am going to try it next time I draw elk . I camo tape my bow and use a cover for brite fletch. I also have been known to use a ghillie suit sooo— ghillied bow is next. Should be very helpful on called elk .

Yeeehaaa! Excellent shooting . I think you are there. You’ve inspired me to go out and practice– grabbing my bow and heading out to my backyard range.

All ya all have a great holiday, and get out and shoot some arrows!

Haha, way cool—– Self – coaching — the wonderment of the modern cell phone

Amazing , still have a hard time wrapping my head around the magnitude of the technology, in that small device and in so short a time period.—- BUT— beyond this place there be Dragons!

Haha – but- I bet that fir/ pine camo or oak branch depending on circumstances would work pretty good. As long as you could keep a released arrow from hitting it. Wonder how it affects bow balance , shooting etc. Might have to try that method.

Roger that. Sounds like you are on top of it, and have it were you want it. It is handy to be able to go back and forth with different tips that are tuned. My carbons are all set up similar to yours.

Steve’s  comments are spot on as usual. What spine shaft are you using? Although it looks like the arrow set up you have, will work fine.

Your foc and arrow weight are where i like to have mine.

Have not tried this method myself – but definitely looks like an easier more fool proof ( and quicker ) method, than the ones I have used in the past. I will try it for my next bow / new arrow work up . A good use for modern technology —–

New one on me, I used to shoot modern rifle and bpcr silhouette. I have not seen archery silhouettes.  Ought to be a hoot. Although the range would probably need sand banks to save on arrows methinks.

Was that a local club near you? Somewhere in the Southwest I imagine.

Truly great to see these younguns enjoying archery, having fun and embracing the freedom and the discipline of the sport.

Roger all your last – I agree a lot of people worry too much about nada — shoot arrows and enjoy the day afield .  I have been known to shoot a competition with ” my” style, legal or no, just for the experience – shooting under pressure etc. I just took the penalty or accepted being out of the money.         When egos permitted.

Having had a kidney stone ( some of the worst pain I have experienced and it takes too long to go away!) I comesirate and wish you a fast pass —

One of the finest pain killers I have known was administered to me in the hospital when I had it. Wish I could remember what it was ? But they didn’t let me go home with it  haha—— modern health protocols!?#!

I hope it goes thru soonest —-

Excellent effective MOD. I am working on one myself at the moment . The bow Quiver ( wrap type )will completely cover my tuff/meatheads but I was overzealous in sheathing the broadhead,  and the point touched the inside of the thread at the top, cutting it. I am going to put a thicker leather pad at the top to stop the point coming thru and restitch it.
