      Hi Robin

No sweat we’ll work thru it . I just scroll down …quickly. if it gets too long , we can start a new forum😁

      Kees

Good to hear from you . Yes on fletch in the hand , dont care for that myself….

Sometimes I put a “cushier” rest on a bow ( higher,  away from my hand…) but if it’s shooting like you want it sounds like a perfect solution . Enjoy your new bow..

Thanks to all the Veterans out there past, present , future— their sacrifices allow us all to have a nice Holiday weekend…

Welcome to the forum… not sure about Joules as we here in US go by weight the bow pulls. Not by Ft lbs of energy? 35 Lb bow and 500gr plus arrows( with Razor Sharp bhead ) and up,  are usually preferred here….

I have no experience with the hoyt satori, so can’t say …

          Maybe Steve will comment..

Sorry to take so long to respond … out of pocket for a bit. Glad it was easily fixed.

That is what I was going to recommend.  I usually try to contact whoever built the bow and get a new string from them , or follow their recommendations to solve the problem… if possible.

              Enjoy your new Bow

Sounds like a great time . Seems like you have a lot of tradbow people over their in AZ.

Unfortunately here in my area…Abq. N.M. doesn’t have that many…

Excellent to see young folks on the traditional Achery trail !

Looks like they have a good turn out at that school. In ancient times when I went to UNM they had a dedicated archery range… long gone now

                    Hi Zack

All good info from the members…

It sounds like you are up on the Ashby Studies.. you can scroll down and access them at the bottom of the page..

I believe an Elk can be killed by any legal ; Bow / Arrow / SHARP! Broadhead…in the right circumstances…

However ….due to the size and tenacity of elk,  one is better off shooting a heavier bow/arrow, provided of course you can master that set up..I always consider the possibility of edging/ hitting the shoulder(bone)…

I used to shoot a 60lb bow and 750 gr arrow w/  Razor Sharp Bhead ( grizzlies in ancient times, Tuffheads now). I liked having the extra umpff ( think shoulder edge)

But due to age and infirmities I now shoot 53lb bow and 695w arrow too maintain my accuracy requirements…

These days I find the taking of game is not as important as the quality of the pursuit. Thus I am not bothered by  having the more limiting shot opportunities of my current set up

                    Just my Humble Opinion…

Hitting elk in the vitals ( accuracy) and Sharp Bhead is most important….

I normally shoot bows in the 50- 54lb range for regular shooting all yr round. If I draw elk I would switch to one of my 60 pounders and shoot it thru the summer. This worked well in the past. I don’t think doubling the bow weight for just 2 weeks would work for me .. too much weight jump in too short of training time…. imho…

Probably best to do what Richard is if you are strong enuff to sustain it…
