“Death in the long Grass” Capstick. Another one for you Etter and Ptaylor’s book debt:D.
Ausjim—saw a report today on one of my science blurbs that show’s croc’s climb trees:shock: One scientist was quoted that you would have to climb about 5meters up to escape.
Put those thorn bushes around the camp and build the fire up:lol:

Main guides get my vote. Give them a call–we have modified bear paw (I think:?) as I remember they have a new model called the rabbit hunter–will probably try them next year.
Your right about the modern metal contraptions impossible to wear with moosehide mukluks.
By the way if you want a real workout come on east and break trail with me in front of 10 or so eager husky’s with their nose up your rear end yelling come on boss faster:D
Supposed to get 1-2″ last night—got a little over a foot.
I love winter8) Apr. 18 spring turkey but whose counting.

Nice thought you wouldn’t know what was good. The Patron and cigars are on you:D And Bruce has provided the info to ensure we can get the darn fire started—although my bow and drill are good backups–you just might have to wait a bit.:?
in reply to: Man Eaters of Kumaon #13301When referring to me and my fiscal knowledge Linda says that dumb Marine is redundant:lol: Well it was a gift given freely –because it is a good work and I knew Dave would appreciate it—however I’m thinking a good bottle of scotch around the next campfire we share:D
Seriously—it is one of the best reads you will find. Maybe check out your library and if they don’t have it they can borrow from one that does. That’s how I got a Dr.Geist recommendation from Dave that sells for $900:evil:
Good book hunting.

Ah but I have had enough of the white stuff and 6 hours a day grooming trails at 6mph.
Time for spring turkey:D April 18. Just to keep on thread i take the bow for occasional stump shots:D

Went immediately to my library and pulled out my dogeared copy, first margin notes are dated 1962 so I was about 12 then, enjoy a real classic.
A minor correction on Dave’s review of “The year long day” it is about trapping for arctic fox—and the polar bears are hunting him:shock: Dave is right that you will never read a book so gripping in the emotion of the moment.
Enjoy both. Without books there would be no joy in life.
Red-Welcome. Much good advice from the experts here–Steve’s is darn good. Jim’s is great.
You won’t believe this but Dave’s advice is right on in a few weeks you will be answering ?. That’s what’s great about this site all are welcome no matter their experience and your opinions/advice are treated gently as befits a trad bow hunter and this clan.
As a beginner –I can offer only a few thoughts:
1. Shoot the weight bow that you can handle comfortably from any position. The amount weight you pull is only important based on the animal you hunt–we are not working out in a gym.
2. Arrows that are tuned to the bow fly straight to the target and are heavy enough to provide the ethical kill (see the Ashby section) are most important.
3.Woodsmen skills are in my opinion just as important as the preceding 2. Awareness, tracking, observing, stalking etc. will add enjoyment to your time in the field.
Enjoy and trust we will hear more from you.

in reply to: Anything Positive @ This Winter? #8702Ice storm last night and this morning. Power out since 1030. wore hard hat outside as ice falling from trees was impressive. Found the down line about 1/2 mile from our place crews are working hard but we are out there you know. Battery power getting low back on the net when we get this mess cleaned up. I love winter–fire place is nice:D
