Its a good thing they arent big enough to use us to plant larvae in. pretty nasty stuff being eaten alive by larvae.
in reply to: 2 blade broadhead orientation #46787Ive always used Horizontal no idea why.
in reply to: Brace heigth #39536well tuning is fun and it keeps me busy. one of my jeffery royal hunters i bought a while back is getting great arrow flight and its very accurate but i for some reason frequently lift the arrow off the shelf while drawing. I set it the same as my other hunter which is 62″ this one is 56″ Im thinking i need to raise the nock point a little. Im pretty sure im using good form and drawing straight back. time to experiment a little.
in reply to: Brace heigth #32179I recently purchased a hicckory and bamboo bow from Rudderbows. It shot ok at about six inch. I emailed Rudderbows and they replied immeditatly and said try between 6.5 and 7.5 starting at 7 inches. it shots really sweet at 7″ and the bow feels very different so ill be experimenting a little with it. I was just curious what others have found to work well. im getting pretty good arrow flight out of them all. when things go badly its usually me making a bad release or not following thorugh like i should. thanks for the input looks like im on the right track.
in reply to: Flemish strings #18640i just never gave it much thought. Ill have to look into making my own strings i make my own arrows so I guess it would just be another craft to develop. I am left hande dbut shoot right handed due to motorcycling injuries years ago.
i ripped out my right arm and the recoil dislocartes my arm so i leraned to shoot right handed. Thanks for all the input.in reply to: Tradtional feather shape! #11655I have been using that cut for many years it doies tend to be a little noisy I dont think id use it for hunting.
in reply to: Building up to heavy draw weight #10620I work out with weights to build my upper body for shooting. im 60 and have crashed my body over the years fallign off my motorcycles. i bench press do curls and rowing exercises while bent from the waist which builds up the back muscles used ofr drawing and holding the string. Im shooting 65lb and working back up to 80lb. I just enjoy the way high poundage bows shoot and want to continue until im relegated to shooting lighter bows.
in reply to: Righthanded/ left eye dominate #50443Im left handed and left eye dominate I dislocated my right arm and ripped my shoulder socket up years ago i could no longer shoot left handed the recoil form my bow takes my arm back out of the socket. so being somwhat stubborn i learned to shoot right handed and right eyed. It took a little while but it works well for me. I shoot just as well right handed as i used to left handed. the bonus is I can shoot a pistol just about as well with either hand rifles i havent worked with much but im not too bad with them either.
