in reply to: SBD string. Two track silencers questions! #15114
The bows I build get set up this way. Pierre (SBD) sends me the bare strings and I use the heterodyne placement of homemade wool silencers. I’ve never had a problem with noise on any of mine.
Recheck your placement of your silencers just to double check and also check your nock point in case it slipped.

in reply to: What to do with an old Bear #15107I would refinish it and make it look new again and put her in the stable and let friends that are interested in getting into trad or maybe let yours kids or grandkids (sorry dont know how young you are) shoot it. Maybe pass it on down the family tree. Or after its refinished then take it to a shoot and see what you can trade it for thats more comfortable to you.
Hope this helps

in reply to: 2013 hunting rigs #60201Thanks Bud. I just love black and white ebony. It’s one of my favorites. Yes I need a new target. But here’s three at 30 yards this is good for me. The average shot here in Florida is about 8-10 yards.
in reply to: 2013 hunting rigs #59759Here’s my 2013 rig. 58 inch R/D longbow. 55 pounds at 28″. Ziricote riser, foam cores, black and white ebony veneers. CX heritage 250 with 175 vpa’s cruising at 191 fps. Should be leathal as long as I do my part.
Finish is still wet. Just finished stippling the grip and spraying it.

in reply to: Pushing the limits #46427I’ve cleaned a couple deer in the kitchen and it wasn’t too bad for the cleanup part but when the better half came home it was a different story. She’s getting used it by now.

in reply to: making carbons heavy #46280in order for this to work correctly you have to burn the ends of the rope so it will feed into the arrow or else it will fray out. Dont ask me how I know this; Yes i tried it without burning the ends

in reply to: Is 10 GPP enough for elk? #41658thanks guys for the help I’m going to go with the extra 100 grain insert for a total of 640 grains.
as for foam cores Jason’s correct.
Thanks Shawn
in reply to: Is 10 GPP enough for elk? #40516The set up I have now are absolute darts. This bow has foam cores so I picked up a bunch of speed so I could beef up my arrows.
I shot some more arrows today and they flew good. I took the same setup and added a 100 grain insert (90 exact minus the reg insert).
So there 640 total grains and going 176 fps. So that puts me a 11.63 GPP and who knows for KE and Efoc.
The terminator heads I use are always hair popping shaving sharp. Yes shot placement is pretty dab burn important. Confidence in my setup and faith are two others for me. Mainly faith !!
Thanks for the help guys.
