Ron fox just called it ” reversed handled longbow” but Ron King renamed it ” Fennic Fox” . The one pictured is the second of it’s kind that RF made for a friend of his. I bought it and Ron K refinished it for me.

I really enjoy shooting it and have found it to be of higher performance than I expected. It loves a heavy wooden shaft and I am yet to take game with it. I will eventually have all the bows refinished as I can’t part with any of them.

I have always tried to align my BHs verticaly. I find that horizontal blocks a part of the site picture . But as long as they are razor sharp and put in the right spot it wont make much difference.
I had wondered if there was a strong trad scene in NZ , its on my list of places to go hunting for sure. Welcome to the site

Dont worry if they dont fly well you can just take off the Broadhead and put on a broom head .

I have heard from friends over here in OZ that the after sales service from Widow is second to none , such a shame to hear though.

Hi all , I am no expert but I have been shooting carbons exclusively for about 5 years now . I switch because I have several bows with a range of draw weights from 50# to 63#. I have used several brands of carbon but hey all have pros and cons.
I found that CE are a great arrow with consistant finish and perform great but they tend to be a bit stiffer than other brands in the same spine range. I have alot of GT Trads and they are excellant the55/75s shoot well from most of my bows but the center cut recurves shoot them best. I have been shooting the AD hammerheads for awhile and I am really impressed they shoot like a dream out of my longbows and they get great penetrationbut the nocks and inserts arent interchangerble with other brands . The joy of carbons are , if they aint straight then there broken and I have seen a few arrows built to shoot buffalo weighing in at about 1000grains and they fly like darts.
If you get a test kit from the brand you wish to try you can determine the spine that suits and then build them up to suit what you want from there.

Hi Reddirt, Thats an older pic I have added to the collection since then. I only have the “raider” to find but there hasnt been any response from any of the websites. I think I am going to have to go door to door if I’m going to complete the collection ,sigh!

I use a pair of the converse in auscam but last year I ended up in a river due to the lack of grip. Not happy to say the least .Those sod hoppers look great , but for the money they should be. My hunting terrain varies from desert to dense forrest so I need something that covers most bases, any suggestions.

I highly recomend talking to Ron King down at Fox archery. Ron builds a great bow and the sleeve type takedowns are a good strong join .

Mate that was inspirational, I wish we had the access to old bows in australia like you guys over there but alas it isn’t the case. The internet was the best thing ever happened here , as it has opened us up to a world of bowyers we would never of heard of. Thanks again for a great read.
