Dido what Jason said. Make sure it’s the braided stuff.

Dido what Steve said. But I think this is also a loosing proposition in the long run. It’s not the flashy tech crowd that’ll see hunting through the tough times, but the hard core traditional values hunters, no matter if it’s with a compound, stick bow, or rifle. These hunters will be there, no matter what. Most guys that buy into the high tech bells and whistles are, in my opinion, not true hunters at their core. They hunt, and they may even be good at it. But when it comes down to making the sacrifices it’ll take to keep hunting alive they’ll just give it up and go to a football game. P&Y, along with other organizations and even state agencies are alienating those true hunters by chasing the glitter that’ll surely blow away.
Jason, the issue of whether or not lighted nocks will aid a hunter isn’t the point. As others have said, it will open the door to other, more “helpful” gadgets. There has always been a moratorium on electronics on bows/arrows. This will break that open. mark my words. If we allow batteries in arrows, it won’t be but a few years until we’re allowing transmitters in arrows for all the same arguments they’re now using for lighted nocks. this is all very depressing because I know it’s coming.
The duct tape is surprisingly tough. It’ll stand quite a bit of tugging/wind. Prolonged wet will make it pull loose though. You could also use a pebble or sheet bend as well. This is just another way, and you don’t get the bunched up edges.
I got the bag from a company called Outdoor Safe. I first saw them in Denver at the BHA rendezvous.
in reply to: The Untamed #25871Thanks Mike, good observations. I can make some changes to the text if Linda wouldn’t mind sending them along.
I think the Idaho Dept. of Fish & Game is planning to run off about a thousand copies for all the hunter ed instructors around the state. If other states would like to do the same, that’d be great as well. Anyone who’d like to take this to their state agency to see if they can get something rolling, let me know.
For now, It’ll only be available on the film tour this fall and summer, aside from the copies that’ll go out for hunter ed, etc. I’ve also given BHA permission to use the film for pretty much whatever they want. once the tour is over, I’ll upload to the web for everyone to see.
[quote=Fallguy]Clay which BOT do you have in the video the Titanium or Stainless steel?[/quogte]
this one is titanium.
Doh, I thought I’d posted it here before running off to WSTR last weekend. Thanks Bruce.

Very adjustable, very fast, and durable. No glue required…
That’s cool Steve, I’ve never seen that before. I’ll have to give it a try.
in reply to: "The Good Hunt" film update #28080Looking forward to it Dave. I know it’ll be great.
in reply to: Caroline & David Petersen #26950we’re pullin for you two here in Idaho Dave. hang in there.
in reply to: clay hayes #63213As stated above, the rendezvous was a great success and a great time. Lots of good people to talk with and share ideas. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the film as well. The plan for the film is as follows. It will go on tour this summer, then – after the tour is done – I will upload the full film in the fall. For now, it’ll only be available on the tour, except for those that sent something to the crowd funding page (thanks Mike). I’ll burn some DVDs for those folks so they can see where their money went. When I get more info on the tour dates and schedule, I’ll let everyone know.
Thanks a bunch. Just so everyone knows, I’ve already got an idea brewing for the next film and just got a brand spankin’ new computer in the mail to start editing with.
in reply to: Hunting As Humanizer: Then and Now #50943Well done Dave, and for those who’ve not read The Tender Carnivore and the Sacred Game, you should. It’s deep and, if you’re like me, will answer questions you never knew you had. It’s deep enough, and I’m slow enough, that I can only really comprehend what Paul is saying when my mind is most active, which is about 5 – 7 am. After that, forget it.
Dave, you just keep hammering away at the crowd you’re targeting. I can’t think of a better representative to the non-hunting majority. God knows we need someone to counter the contemporary American “sportsman” image.

There is a photo of you with a bear and flintlock rifle in the Winter 2011 Backcountry Journal. Is that the same one you mentioned in your book?
Jim
nope, that’s another story..
in reply to: Clay Hayes new book! #25549I’ll have a stack there, as well as some t shirts.
in reply to: too much time in the woods? #19932Actually, I put this up as a primer for my talk at the BHA rendezvous in Denver. I’ll be talking about stalking and still hunting. The way figure, if moss starts to grow on you, you’re probably moveing just slow enough…
