in reply to: What's your favorite bowhunting song? #13455
Favorite bowhunting song … ? Definitely, “Bowhunter Do or Die” by Jim Bowman. 😀
in reply to: Hello, my name is Drew #13452Welcome, Drew … This is a great site and I’m sure, like me, you’ll learn much. And I agree entirely with your assessment of an obscene hunting industry that places greater emphasis on the acquisition of needless junk and not nearly enough on the spirit of the hunt. Traditionl archery is not like that, which is why I’m so drawn to it.
I also grew up hunting rabbits behind my father’s beagles.8)in reply to: Another arrival #58027Welcome, Ken … I’m new, too.8)
in reply to: Where do you get your tradional supplies from #57564I’ve bought wood shafts from Rose City, too, and their shipping was fast and free. I live in WV and the order arrived in one day. Alaska Bowhunting Supply, where I buy cap wraps for the carbons I now shoot also ships fast; although I think many of their prices are out of line.
in reply to: Hello, Everyone #57556Thanks to all for the words of welcome. And particular thanks to you, Steve, for your kind words … I’ve worked hard on form.
Later, Folks.:D
in reply to: Draw Weight for Deer? #56865One of today’s modern 44# bows, shot at a responsible distance, should be more than enough. I hunt with a friend who regularly shoots carbon arrows with sharp broadheads completely through deer using a 40# longbow.
in reply to: Need a new hunting recurve any suggestions? #56857If interested in a 50s-style recurve, you may wish to contact Mike Dunnaway at Wild Horse Creek Bows in Perry, Kansas(MKDSLD@aol.com). He makes two recurve models, a 54″ and 60,” and his prices are reasonable for the quality bow you’re getting.
in reply to: What type of bow and arrow will you use this year #56837This year, and probably for the forseeable future, I’ll be pursuing my beloved whitetails with a 51#/62″ Shafer Silvertip recurve and Carbon Express Heritage 250 shafts tipped with Stos 160-grain broadheads.
in reply to: Where do you get your tradional supplies from #56828My experience with 3Rivers Archery has been nothing but positive … fast shipping, extensive inventory, and superb customer service. 3Rivers is my first stop for traditional supplies. Recently, however, I’ve been buying a few items from Stickbow Supplies, an ebay storefront with great prices, excellent customer service, and fast shipping; only downside being limited inventory.
My first posting … Hello everyone.
