This is Bow and Arrow making season for me now. Thinking of making some spruce arrows and a string follow bow…
Happy New Year everyone! I am looking forward to a great year. Steve I hope you plan to post some pics of your string follow bow when you build. I have a desire to build one as well. But first I want to build a sinew backed osage following Mike Yancy’s process from Pine Hollow Longbow.
in reply to: New to the sport #14150Welcome Longcutter – good to have you join the trad family. How about a picture of the new bow?

Yep – I should have taken a picture showing the view as I lean against that boulder. In my day pack I have a Jetboil stove and I sit right there and have an early morning coffee. This area is lower elevation foothills and this is a beautiful time of the year to hike the foothills everything is so green.
in reply to: Christmas gift in the mail! Arrived in time! #37070in reply to: I draw the line way, way before helicopters #13517I think the concept is that this is an extreme hunter and from here he is going to pack and hunt. I drive in a truck two hours to get to my starting point which is a trailhead then pack from there. I think it would fall into the bush plane category. Or I could just be justifying an activity that I would like to experience. Lol
in reply to: Christmas gift in the mail! Arrived in time! #49877I sent my brother the arrow details so he can secure those along with tab- arm guard etc. I think he is as excited as I am to set her up with the full package. I even have a couple videos links that I send showing the process of stringing a bow and nocking an arrow etc.
I even offered to show her myself if he wanted to fly me out to Colorado during deer season. Lol
in reply to: Christmas gift in the mail! Arrived in time! #47809Steve she draws about 24″ so it should be around 25# at her draw length. She is 14 so I was wanting to build something that she can grow up with. I made it 62″ so that it would be extra smooth in the draw. Lol
The string length is 58″
in reply to: Another gift of venison #24142Awesome story and adventure Alex! Another awesome solo trad hunter experience is added to the Tradbow collection!

in reply to: Carrying strung bows. #34802I carry my bow strung and ready to fling an arrow. But I do not hunt with a ATV. In fact I go where they cannot go on purpose. I want to avoid the crowds here that use them.
in reply to: Yes! Yes! and Yes! Update #22218If something sounds to good to be true it is typically to good to be true. This hunt opportunity faded away. The rancher decided against opening up his land to a friend of the friend. So back to the public land I go.
