in reply to: Personal Observations: Broadheads & Sharpening #58255
I found the arrow grabber in the Three Rivers catalogue. It does look good. Looks like fairly dense foam?
I love sharpening things too. I start with a file and go thru a series of different stones and end up stropping. Stropping is the icing on the cake:wink:
Sharpening took me a lot of trials and errors and am still learning. Learnt something today if this arrow grabber works!

I will however be joining Traditional Bowhunter Magazine ranks this next month, because at least I know I will be getting the best of the best for my money.
I just want to say thank you for being here, as we have a great resource and a wealth of information with many that are here, let alone David Petersen and Dr Ed Ashby.
BTW David, I’m reading your interview right now in last months copy of TBM.
Again, the BEST of the BEST here bar none.

I have a closet full of hats, I could send a few:roll:

What are you going to do with the tusks?

The dentist will need a strong wrist:lol:

Didn’t do that right. Wanted Mark’s post about the dentist!in reply to: Wensel woodsman for elk #54625tucsonbowhunter wrote: WW have killed lots of criters they just arn’t ideal becuse of the fact they are 3 blades. Two edge single bevel will definatly out preform when something goes wrong.
If the hit is to far back I feel the three blade would be more lethal. All things being equal as far as sharpness goes More cutting edge so it should do more damage. The pyramid design of the three blade should make it very strong and less prone to bending. Think I saw a commercial once where one was shot into a concrete block:!:
I have never used a single bevel head so I am not talking from experience. I am thinking they would be harder to sharpen:?: Brucein reply to: A Mountain Trip #52322Great pictures Ray!!!! I like the middle one especially, with that game trail snaking along in front!

Brucein reply to: Washing Clothes: Baking Soda? #45976I kindda agree with Dan, for me during my hunting years that if you got downwind of a whitetail, no matter what you had done to cover your scent, you were pretty much done for. A few exceptions, foggy wet weather, being high in a treestand and a few others. I think it is hard for humans to ascertain the nose capabilities of these animals. Bird dogs are likely about the best example!!
Brucein reply to: Predators and A Hunter's Conscience #45217It is unfortunate that the North American fur industry has been pretty much ruined, and we all know why!!!
When coyotes and foxes were worth 50-150 dollars then there was good reason to trap, snare or shoot them.
It was during this time they were also at their healthiest!
Creating the “Balance” works best.

Brucein reply to: Grizzly BH and Bow Quiver #33696The quiver that I have has an ethafoam core. Wondering, if yours is the same, if the ethafoam could be replaced or added to, to cover the broadheads. I have replaced the core on mine.

in reply to: Who is your bowhunting hero and why? #28965Yes I have to agree that “Hero” isn’t maybe the correct word but with my limited writing and vocabulary skills, I couldn’t think of another word to use. The reason for the thread is that I feel a lot of these people maybe don’t get the credit they deserve !!!
Brucein reply to: Longbow buck #28538Well done !!! Pretty nice deer for the first !!!
