Nice setup in Sparta, shot there last year. There is a shoot at Ojibwa Bowhunters just outside of Waukesha the same weekend that I’ll be at instead.

Wisconsin just allowed for the first time last year to allow a deer to be taken out of the woods in no more than 5 parts.

In western North Dakota they were chasing big time on Nov. 18th but our impression that it was just getting under way and probably would have been even better the week after.

Finished watching it today and I thought it was outstanding.

I hadn’t hunted on the ground since converting to trad four years ago and killed my first doe while on a slow walk back to the cabin. Now probably 30% of the time I’m sitting or standing in natural cover. I haven’t shot another on the ground but have had great encounters and know just need to put in that extra time on the ground. What is so great about it is you can pick those perfect spots that never seem to have the tree in the right place and position yourself for the wind that day. Mosquitos are my limiting factor.

I don’t shoot carbons anymore however when I did with a similar setup except, with a little over a 28″ draw, I shot 150 CX cut at 30 1/4″ with 100gr. brass inserts and 150 heads. 250 cx were too stiff and even with the 150’s I seemed to need a longer arrow with the heavy front to weaken the spine a bit.

I really do like the bow. It’s 1 1/8″ wide at the fadeout and 1/2″ wide at the tips. 4 laminations of bamboo. I decided I didn’t like the handle I got. He called it the RW grip where he flattens out the grip on the finger side. I had the tendency to torque the bow because of that so I added some deer hide to fill that in. Next time I will get the standard locater grip. Steve Turay said he made the grip by request and many people liked it but not for me. I guess i would reiterate that he’s great to talk to if you have any questions.

My first post here so trying to figure things out. I meant to send a little description. Northern Mist Baraga with Bubinga riser and bamboo limbs with black glass. 54#’s and I shoot 740 gr. ash arrows. It loves heavy arrows. Slight reflex, deflex with the baraga and superior but also builds the classic style and string follow which I may try next time.
