I have something very similar to this. Got it at Bass Pro. I liked it so much that I went back and got 2 more. One for the kitchen and the other 2 are in my hunting pack and fishing tackle box. I even sharpen my Razorheads with it.

All the South facing slopes are about bare here but the rest of the yard is still almost a foot deep. More where its shaded! an hour South of us….. nothing ! I sure hope the snow is gone by turkey season ! Happy Hunting from North Central Ontario !!

Absolutely, you need the fat on a goose. I can’t imagine how it would turn out if you skinned it and took the fat off first. I have a goose hunt planned for this fall with my brother. We’re planning on setting up on a field edge and plucking them from the decoy spread with bows. Should be fun !!

R2, I do this from time to time also. I tuck my last 2 fingers into my palm while gripping the bow but only to train my grip when i find myself getting lazy.

I’ve seen this video many times. It is in yukon with Real Langlois (aka The Rackman).I’d say he probably hit a rib, and yes, though there doesn’t seem to be a lot of penetration, the animal didn’t go far.The problem is, at that distance, with the moose ready for a fight and hunter at full draw….you have to shoot because the chance of getting trampled is actually the same or greater if you let down. At 3 feet, i’d like to think that he wasn’t even using his sights.

Did you say “had” ???? We’re still having it !! Seems like March has been worse than February for snow. I have a bag target on a frame hanging about 6 inches off the ground in my back yard. Today I could see just the top inch or so of the bag !! Never really got a huge dump of snow at any one point, but in the last 2 weeks, we’ve only had 2 days that didn’t snow a couple inches at least. Hope spring gets here soon, at this rate I’ll need my snowshoes for turkey season !!

WOW ! I’d call this a nice problem to have ! A moose hunt in Quebec would only be second to a moose hunt in Newfoundland on my list and I live in Northern Ontario ! True, you won’t likely come home with a “trophy rack” but you will certainly catch your share of fish and have a belly full of it. Thats not to say there aren’t some nice moose in Quebec but its not the Yukon ! Mid to late Sep. is sort of the pre-rut time so practice up on calling. You might not have to venture too far from camp if you can persuade a curious bull to come to you.

                    Good luck !

Here is a pic of my “moccasin” quiver. The hood is from the top portion of 2 mocs and the lower part is the heel off the sole with slots for the arrows to clip into. The hood is filled with spray foam and both pieces lash to the bow with leather laces.

I’ve been following Greyarcher on youtube for a while now. He’s great. I also try bowhuntingtv from time to time as there are some good traditional hunts on there. I’ve also checked out everything I could find on line from Rick Welch. He has a forum site as well. http://www.theaccuracyfactory.forumotion.net

Some good videos and people on there too, but TBM is always my go to site. Great people, great stories, great topics and the overall wealth of knowledge that is shared here is hard to beat !!

when I was a teenager my Mom would make meat pies with pigeon and squirrel. They were delicious !!

Nice shot by the way !

I can’t imagine 3 feathers weighing more than about 5 or 6 grains. Just a guess.

I had a similar issue with some shafts that were a bit too stiff.Even adding point weight wouldn’t cure it.

I’ve been a tab shooter almost exclusively from the start but recently I’ve been wearing my light leather work gloves to go stumping or rabbit hunting. Mostly because they also kept my hands warm but now I’m really starting to like shooting with the glove.
