in reply to: How to deal with mosquitoes? #17285
The repellant in the Thermacell is derived from the crysanthemum flower and (I’m told) harmless. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada and my family outfits bear hunts.
You’ve never seen blackflies until you’ve tried to skin a bear in Northern Ontario in early June. Thermacells work !!!
in reply to: Question ????? #17276Gold Tip 3555 expedition hunters. 150 grains up front. My draw length is 30.5. I shoot this arrow with 5″ feathers from a recurve at 46# and 32 inches length. they fly perfectly.Hope this helps !
in reply to: new to archery too #17211I’m no expert, in fact I’ve only been shooting traditional for about 6 months now but in that 6 months I’ve gone from shooting all over the place to shooting squirrels and rabbits on a regular basis. The biggest reason for this is a fellow named Rick Welch. His shooting method and teachings are awesome. Search on-line and find everything you can from Rick Welch and his instinctive shooting method.
in reply to: Back Quivers #17199Back quivers are great for practice or 3-D shoots but for hunting, I like a tube quiver. Its quiet, its comfortable and it takes minimal movement to pull another arrow if you need one. I also don’t like shooting with a quiver on my bow so the tube works well for me.
in reply to: Switching to carbon help #17190Hi there I shoot almost exactly that combo with my 40# Martin X-200. GT expedition hunter, 11gr insert, 5″ feathers,145gr bear razor head. They fly perfectly from my bow. Only difference is I draw to 30.5 so my real weight is more like 46# but I’m sure you will have great success with these arrows AND it will be a LONG, LONG TIME before you break one.
