Bruce, that’s a Queen size blanket made from the hides of about a dozen of Tibetan goats.

I am building a bow for myself right now using Ironwood and hickory in the riser and Shedua veneers. It will be about the same in specs as yours as far as draw weight and length at 62″. It will be my first attempt at a take-down sleeve similar to the BW design. I have always loved their bows but have not had the pleasure of owning one.
Thanks Cameron! You might not have the pleasure to own one, but you have the knowledge and ability to make your own, which I’m sure gives you immense pleasure! I know it would me!! Let us see it once completed!
in reply to: Good Movie #51435Thanks for the heads up! I just put it on my Netflix list. Will watch soon.

I really like the hat, in fact, I have one on order that should be here any day, maybe even today. I ordered a plaid with some red in it. It’ll be my squirrel/rabbit/deer hat.
I have a 48 pound Black Widow PL that I got in 2012. Never made friends with it. I’d let it go for $600 to a good home, David…
Thanks Steve! First of all I do have some kind of timid smile on this pic! 😀
secondly, that hat has been in the closet for years! But it’s first quality hat, Harris tweed from UK or Ireland. It has been very lightly used and needs a good home! Hint, hint , hint!!
in reply to: Tuning issues #26840Yes, if form is your problem, then blind bale practice is key and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that it helped with your accuracy. I shoot 5 arrows with my eyes closed into the ground every time I start and end practice. It has an amazing effect on my anchor and release!
in reply to: What ya got goin? #18322Dwc, we got a little less than 1″ here! Most of it stayed south of us.
On the other front, after 6 years shooting my Shrew, I’m now on the short 8 weeks list for a new Black Widow PL V. I decided to go back to the PL, having owned 2 in the past. This one will be 62″, 57#@28 ( give or take 1#)
Here’s a pic of my old one, a 63 pounder that I sold for the Shrew back in 2010. It was taken in CO, while hunting with our National treasure David Petersen!
I’ll chime in with pics of the new one in late March!

Hi Robin. I can’t make it this year. I play in Cincinatti on Saturday 30th.

The carbon may have had a small defect or stress fracture which snapped on release due to paradox. The effect was a dry fire as only the back half was being pushed forward by the string.
It’s happened to me twice. Once with an aluminum and once a carbon. The carbon caused my limb to delaminate just like yours.
I’m no engineer but I imagine we increase the chances of this happening when we trend toward efoc. These days I only shoot wood from my longbow though I do shoot carbons from my recurve.
Very interesting, thanks. I think the string was still in my fingers when all broke loose, but I’m not 100% sure. Good point, though. I will keep that in mind and inspect my carbon arrow more closely from now on!

Man, it will be my 3rd BW longbow. I had a 64″ 63#, and a 62″ 55# before. They shoot like a dream! And built like tanks! I sold the 64″ to get the 62″, and sold the 62″ when I got the shrew back in 2010. 😀 I don’t collect bows.
in reply to: RIP my trusty Shrew Classic Hunter #37595Thanks guys! It really didn’t affect my shooting. I went out stumping with my Black Widow recurve the next day, and had a lot of fun. Now for the best part, I ordered a Longbow from BW. PL V 62″ 57#@28. Yes going back to my roots shooting a longer bow! I will post pics in 8 weeks! 😀

Bet walking around in that sounds about like walking in a bowl of cornflakes uh?
You should see the forest floor in the dead hemlocks forest! Talk about a bowl of cornflakes mixed with matches!!

It is Fred’s. I had 2 judos, Hex points and field points in there. It’s a little hard to put the judo back in the quiver, especially since it’s wool. But lots of fun regardless!! you’re welcome, Dave!
in reply to: What ya got goin? #19761I took out my Shrew for a walk in the woods today for the second time since the end of the season. What a joy it is to shoot!! It didn’t take long to achieve accuracy with it again. It’s funny, I love hunting with my Black Widow PCH, but I see it primarily as a pure hunting weapon and meat maker. On the other hand, I can get lost for hours in the woods with my Shrew and a couple of judo point arrows!
