2 pairs of smartwool socks, one light, one heavy, toe warmers stickers, and 400gr thinsulate boots. 800 gr thinsulate are too bulky for me to hunt with, since I sneak around a lot, but would be fine on treestands.

I love my Gregg Coffey Classic Hunter. I stopped having bowitis in June 2010 when I got it, and haven’t had the desire to shoot any other bow since! I might not experience the excitment and joy of opening a package with a new (to me) bow anymore, but gained so much accuracy by being a one bow/arrow guy, that the joy of seeing my arrow hit its mark consistently is where my excitment and joy come from nowadays.

Having said that, I might crack and get an Elkheart, if it doesn’t throw my shooting out of whack, which Gregg said it wouldn’t, if he re-creates a handle close to my CH!! 🙄

I killed two deer this season. It never happened to me before this year. Usually one has been it for me. My freezer is full, my Hunt memory bank full also, but I still can’t wait to go out again. Nothing like cold, wintery, hopefully snowy, late archery season up here in NY, and no pressure to make meat between now and the end of the season. Just the pure pleasure to be out there, bow in hand.

I started alone also. I had TJ’s book, which is the most complete book about trad archery and bowhunting in general. I also had a video made by Denny Sturgis called, I think:

” shooting instinctively at the moment of truth”

I don’t know if they still make this one, but the DVD series Master of the bare bow is right on, especially the Ron LaClair and Fred Eichler segments!

Well, I’m back a day early! We didn’t see one whitetail in 3 days. We froze our butt off in the mountains! waking up in a small tent in 17 degrees weather before light and no fire was…. challenging :shock:! We later moved East in the Lower farm land WMA’s. a little warmer, but It seemed like the whole state of virginia was filled with guys riding around with dogs and muzzleloaders in the back of their pickup, chasing deer, bears, coons and rabbits. I heard hunting dogs barking 24 hours for 3 days, everywhere we went! I even saw a truck decal with a dog chasing a deer!!! Gorgeous rolling hills farm country though, with lots of History. Good times camping out with a good friend, eating the some back straps from my NY deer, so all was not all lost, but if I ever hunt in VA again, it would have to be in archery only/ no dogs allowed private land.

PS: when I bought a 3 day license + archery permit at Dick’s

I wasn’t asked to show my hunter’s ed and bowhunter’s ed card, just driving license. I was surprised.
