No election buck for me this year, Dave! Actually almost no hunting at all! My newborn baby is my deer! Huh…. , no! She’s my Dear!:D
Man, between taking care of Juliette and more touring in November than I ever did in the past, I went out maybe 2 mornings and 3 evenings this whole year! That’s cool! I’ll make up next year!
PS: It was fun for me to read my own story again after 4 years. I’m happy to say that the break up lasted only one year, and we got back together and had this beautiful child together! I already took her scouting and check trail cameras, in a camo coat, no less! She’s only seen deer on TV, though, and she loves Elk sounds! Take care!
in reply to: Discouragement #50746HELLO FIREHAWK
Nice to see another French guy here! Maybe your arrow did not penetrate as much as you thought. How much blood was there on the arrow and on what part of it? Also, you might have bumped her, because waiting 20 minutes might not have been enough time. En tout cas, bonne chance dans le futur, et n’hesite pas a m’envoyer un message en Francais si tu preferes! 😀
PS: As DWC said, the fact that you were able to have a 9 yard shot from the ground alone causes for celebration!

The old noodle ain’t what it used to be, but I think I ran around that area when I lived near Fishkill back in the mid ’90’s. Could that be? Dang familiar.
I saw some little bucks back then. Thought I’d be hunting there, but got moved by the company before I could start. Beautiful state, NY.
I had a house in Rinecliff, up the hill from the train station as I recall.
Yes Steve, Beacon is between the river to the West and Fishkill to the East!
in reply to: Broadheads For Wood Arrows #19284yeah Mike and Dave you’re right, one can’t go wrong with tuffheads, or my single bevel of choice, the Abowyer Brown bear. I always keep one Abowyer-tipped arrow in my whitetail quiver, but use them exclusively on elk hunts. ACE and Eskimo broadheads do really good for me on whitetails. Also, I do file the eskimo to a tanto tip, for added peace of mind, although I never experienced one curling up on bone impact.
