in reply to: Washington/Idaho trad shoots #56081
Oh man how I’d love to be in Boise next month – just a big ocean and an empty wallet in my way 🙁 Enjoy it folks 😀
in reply to: Nothing is wasted … #55962That bird reminds me of our Red Kite which has been re-introduced into Ireland following historic extermination here. Nice pics!
in reply to: Use of Arm Guards-Pros and Cons #55955As already said – check brace height and ensure adequate elbow “rotation”, i.e. turn your bow arm bicep towards the ground.
in reply to: 4 x 3" Fletching #54917Ben, I think it was Alex (lyagooshka – sp?) that was experimenting with 4 fletch, he used them on his wheely bow but was having some success with his trad bows when he tried it.

Jim, that’s an interesting statement but I think the difficulty lies in the word recreational – it can be hard to justify any recreational act beyond that it fills a void in our existence. Have a read of Gregory Clark’s article in the Dec/Jan issue of TBM for an interesting take on what I’m referring to.
in reply to: Pemican Recipe #46925Pemican always reminds me of Scott and his doomed Antarctic mission as they lived on a diet of pemican, dried biscuits and cocoa. Unfortunately they were at least 2000 calories short of what they needed to eat each day and basically starved (and froze) to death 🙁 But hey, don’t let that put anyone off as I doubt you’ll be manhauling a sled across the Antartic continent 😉
Scout, it’s Irish. And I know that not because the men are wearing typical elderly Irish attire and drinking Irish stout but because the bottle on the counter is red lemonade – a uniquely Irish soft drink, essentially composed of sugar and red colourant and nothing to do with lemons, that was a ubiquitous mixer with whiskey!
in reply to: Washington Elk… #46907I thought the elk density would be higher than that Ralph and all that snow would make it too easy to track them 😛 😆
in reply to: Glove vs. tab #46898Hey Ralph, take it easy on your sorcery I had to send the wife out to clean up the yard after your post:

Enjoyed that Dave 😆
in reply to: Great Northern Field Bow #46870I’ve been admiring those bows in their TBM ads for quite some while. Nice purchase and the quiver will be a great addition to it. I think your poundage is perfect for starting out and for field archery, that’s the same weight I shoot!
in reply to: Humidity in new shop (new bow pics added) #46166I’ve hired dehumidifiers before when trying to get hardwall to dry during the winter months over here. Impossible task without one – R2 will explain 😆 I just mentioned renting as in my case it’s only a one off use and as soon as you buy it’ll depreciate so it’d need to earn its keep!
in reply to: Historic bowhunter #46163Hey Etter, you might like this one too:
Some old cousin of ours on horseback using two Irish Wolfhounds to pursue a Red Stag. He preferred a cruder instrument though 😉
in reply to: Washington Elk… #46159Went by the name of Moose I think?
Hey Alex, if you can’t make it pass on his address and I’ll oblige him 😉 😆 I’d feel right at home as I think it rains about the same amount in WA as here 🙄
in reply to: Humidity in new shop (new bow pics added) #46156Troy, any plant hire shops around you? Just rent a dehumidifier off them for a week and see if this will remove the introduced humidity from the timber/paint/etc. If things settle after that you’ve only had a small rental fee. But if it’s a longer term problem you may have to invest in one or look at an extraction system. Is there a general humidity issue in your neck of the woods?
