Usually a clear coat polish or car wax works pretty well. For the stubborn areas you can use one of those green scratch pads. It can always be polished back to a shine.
When the finish is still in tact but yellowed, many guys take 1500 or 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper and lightly go over the finish to remnove the yellowing. The bow can them be polished to a nice shine.
Paint and adhesives can be removed with several solvents. Lighter fluid, WD 40, OOPs, Lacquer thinner.
Stay away from chemical strippers. Elbow grease is cheaper in the long run.

in reply to: Any other Bear Archery enthusiasts here? #64107I can’t answer your question about newer Bears R2. My youngest one is 46 years old. I collect and shoot 54-62 vintage abd they all shoot great.
Always looking for more of them 🙂

in reply to: Any other Bear Archery enthusiasts here? #51057There’s a bunch of them out there Mac, better grab one up and start flinging arrows.
I started collecting Bear bows about 2 years ago and am really amazed at how well some of the 45-55 year old bows perform. I mostly collect Bears built from 1954-1962.
Are you looking for anything in particular?
I would love to have made it to the Museum before it closed down. I’m sure that was a neat experience.
Good Shooting, Trap
