One question I might ask myself is : is 35 yards too long a shot? A lot can happen in the time it takes an arrow to go 35 yards even assuming the arrow was flying to the intended mark.
I have made 35 yard and even 40 yard shots on game before and never lost any. I also make 30 and 40 yard shots in practice very consistantly. So I do not know, maybe I hit a twig I didn’t see and it deflected my arrow, or maybe I just made a really bad shot and I thought I made a good shot. I just do not know. All I know is I have a deer out there with one of my arrows in it and I feel terrible about not recovering that animal. I hope it was just a superficial wound and he will be ok. I really do. I will be looking for him on my Trail Cameras, and for the rest of the season.

in reply to: Easton Legacy Arrows #9782Update,
I fletched up those Legacy with both 5 inch and 4 inch, I shoot them both and I have to say I was impressed with the performance. The 5 inch did shoot a bit better, I might head to woods this year and give them a go, I did say might.in reply to: Arrow quivers while hunting #9775NHguy12 wrote: Greetings,
In the past I have carried my arrows for my long bow in a back quiver. While the quiver looks great at the 3D range, I find it to be a pain while hunting as the arrows snag branches and it makes it tough to carry a back pack. I do still and stand hunting for the most part.
So, what do you use while hunting to carry arrows. I see that they make bow quivers for long bows, does that effect the bow’s performance? Has anyone come across a good hip quiver? Open to suggestions.
Thanks ahead of time
I use Kwikee Quiver or a back quiver of my own make. I prefer the back quiver but the Kwickee is more practicle for hunting

Wow:!: Now that’s fast…Van
I guess My buddy shoots a 61 pound recurve with a simular arrow at at 203 FPSin reply to: Recurve or longbow your choice and why? #54053Long bow for me I think it is more forgiving

Thanks that was a great help. So tell me what do you think of my latest bow build
in reply to: Question of Traditional or Primitive Bowhunting #47365What is or isn’t traditional has been hashed out over many campfires and websites over the years…
I was just kidding about coining a new phrase. I see your point and it is well taken. This is surely a subject that will discussed and debated for some time to come.

It was a different time but you can’t understand that with your modern fetchin-up. Times were different, people were different, and we didn’t have a nation of know-it-alls with I-Pods, computers, and newborn ethics that we apply to times already passed. Good grief.
Don’t speak ill of the dead. And, I doubt one of you here would have spoken ill of him to his face. He was an actor and showman as well as archer…before 1940. And by the way, Fred and Howard Hill got along fine….don’t know who told you Fred hated him…it was not so.
I got that from the Book “I remember Papa Bear” Also I worked for Bear Archery in the Late 80’s and I had spoke with a lot of people who actually knew Fred Bear and I remember having a discussion with one of Bear’s closest friends at the plant and we discussed the impact early archers and how much we had to thank them for the sport we now know. And Howard Hill came up much in the discussion of course.
There is no sporting or ethical hunting of tieing an animal up to shoot it with a bow, or to use a human as live bait, now or 60 years ago. That is all I was saying.
in reply to: Question of Traditional or Primitive Bowhunting #47288“It does not however, make someone less of a traditional bowhunter because they happened to get their bow from the village bowyer.”
Fletcher I never really thought about it that way, But I can surely see your point, It just seems strange that people use a stick bow and then shoot graphite arrows out of it that have a wood simulation pattern. and then use a release to send the arrow on it’s way…
Let’s coin a new phrasw “Modern Tradionalist”
I am not sure I agree with you on the early Fred Bear and others like Art Young and Howard Hill, They did make their own equipment from scratch as there was no such thing as mass produced bows and arrows. So in effect they were true Tradional bow hunters would you not agree.

Nothing major just drive across the bridge you have to have the proper permit though.
