congrats… thats one thing i love to see is young kids hunting, and with a real bow is even better… my son is 6 and we just got done doing some shooting in the back yard, i had him practicing with a bb gun while i was shooting my longbow, after he missed our target (a 3″x3″ sheet of paper) about 15 times he asked for his longbow and then hit the target 3 times in a row from 7 yards and was within a paper plate for the next 20…. thats awesome…..

hey thanks for the good info guys, i’m not gonna back it unless it starts to crack, which i dont think it will… i really like the way this bow is shooting, tons of power to… think i’m gonna put down my recurve and hunt with this bow this year:)

thanks for the info guys… i made her a bow its solid hickory with sheet rock tape and wood glue backing (looks cool and works great) its 42lbs at 28″ however her draw is 22″ so i’m guessing that it might only be 25lbs or so at 22″, but it will be a good starter bow and easy to learn on.. i will get a pic in soon of it…

one thing i like to do is take a kids (small) soccer ball and kick it a little and try to hit it on the run, this really helps your instinctive shooting and takes the monotonous out of target shooting. However your kids might not like this shooting idea much but kid soccer balls are only a few bucks at wally world and believe it or not i have one that i have shoot about 100 times and still rolls fine, stump shooting is great practice also…

you dont need camo, i agree i just wear dark colors (green, brown, black) it’s almost kind of funny how wrapped up some guys get with camo, my brother has i bet about $1,000 worth of the “best” new camo out there and spends few days perfecting his blind and spents a butt ton of money on cover sents. My dad wears blue jeans and his everyday street coat, set a steel folding chair on the edge of the woods after he gets done changing the oil in his truck and shoots deer under 20 yards every year… so the way i see it is as long as you hunt down wind and dont stick out like a sore thumb your good!

i shoot a samick sage recurve and love it i have had and shot a lot of $500+ dollar bows that didnt do any better then the sage does, like others have said get a 40# – 45# bow no need for any more then that… if you get one from 3 rivers you will also want top get the flemish string, the string that comes with it is junk…
