Today 9-22-2013 was the end of the.Eastern Oregon season and I didn’t fill the.freezer, but I had alot of fun and did several stalks on several bucks but.got.busted a few times, didn’t get a shot on a couple. One of the.coolist things that happened was when I.sat down on a rock taking a break and a spike Elk walked with in 10 yards of me, Looked at me, then gave me a great 1/4’ing away pose and walked off slow.

He knew I didn’t have an Elk tag I just know it!

Yep I ennoyed it, but then I thought of the circus bears and got sad. I know it was more of a pet.who’s life was probably saved as a cub, I was pulled in both directions too.

but it wasn t to far.off.from the family pet doing tricks for a treat I suppose. It was cute if you don’t think to hard aboutt it.:(

I couldn’t use the knot once I got it filed down because it was to small once I got the shape I wanted. So I found another piece of wood (not hard to find when we’re building our house) it had a good shape to start with and witb a little file work and sanding, it came out great! So I glued it on and am ready to put on a stain and then put in a leather grip, leather side plate and velcro on the arrow rest. Then I can start breaking in the bow and the string. I put serving on the string the other day and for my first time serving it came out looking great. Wow all these years of shooting a bow and I never tried serving before. What a waste, it was fun and now I am thinking about making my own strings for both my bows and my wifes bow. Why didn’t I do this long ago??

Thanks for everyones help in adding an arrow rest!

[quote=coastalbendbows]I would use a small piece of leather kinda like a flipper and then wrap the handle to cover the rest. If not you could find a small piece of horn or wood for a rest then put velcro on it.

                      Hope this helps[/quote

Thank you! I found a small knot that was cut in half in a piece of lumber that is wedge shaped and I think it will work wwith a piece of velcro glued to.

Thank you every one for your help.

If you have a nice piece of scrap that I could whittle into a small arrow shelf for my Hickory longbow you can send it my way! 😆

Never mind, I do have a scrap pile worth a little look through. We are in the process of building our new house and I found a small piece of wood that once filed and sanded fit just fine. I glued it on and am getting ready to put a finish on the bow, then comes the leather for the grip, side plate and a little velcro for the arrow rest. Never give up on the scrap pile whether it’s wood or metal, just keep pawing through it!:D

Oregon it is #40 for deer, Blk. bear, Antelope, and cougar.

But #50 for elk, Big horn sheep, and Mt. Goat.

Just about the time you think you have all the hunting regs. figured out, they change them!

Here in Oregon it seems like they change them every year along with the cost of the lic. and tags:shock:
