in reply to: Bow Quivers #38116
Try Great Northern, Selway, or a Kanati quiver!
in reply to: First long bow #35940I wouldn’t say easier persay, I shot a recurve real well! the longbow just feels better in my hand, I just never liked the bigger riser on a recurve, mine were take downs! The one thing that you will notice right away is the Longbows can be a lot more jumpy or handshocky especially the D style types! The reflex/deflex longbows virtually have no handshock! As to whats easier you will find everyone has an opine on that subject, for me it was a natural switch and now longbows is all I own! Never heard anything bad about the Montana longbow it has a good following, ask on the the forums for feedback lots people shoot that bow!
in reply to: First long bow #35493I just started shooting trad 2 years ago,and switched to longbows last winter! I like 50lb Longbows I draw almost 30in kinda a good overall weight for me, there are also other factors to consider on Longbows such as straight limbed D style types or the Reflex/Deflex Style Longbows! My advice would be to find Trad event or a bow shop and shoot a few of them if that is possible and then make your decision!
in reply to: New Bow Day – Never thought I'd like a 58" #32256i’m jealous I want one now! Better start saving some money for a down payment!LOl I like the wood combo and the limb tips!
in reply to: Non-chinese Wool Shirts? #29710Check E-bay and resale stores, you can :sometimes find Pendelton, Woolrich shirts etc! If it is the older product most of that was made in the US before NAFTA and the exodus to China! I am with you on the not “made in CHINA” thing but the sad reality is we have very few if any Woolen Mills in this country anymore! Good luck on your search!
in reply to: Kalamazoo Traditional Bowhunters Expo #28955Your friend will be amazed if you get him there, once he shoots a few of the Trad bows from all the bowyers that are there he will switch for sure! LOL Be sure to bring lots of cash!
in reply to: most challenging animal to hunt? #27574For me Squirrels easy to find very hard to hit, and tough to kill even if you do hit one! Ruffed grouse is second very hard to see in the woods and if you do see one very difficult hit with a trad bow! a lot of fun to hunt both as you get to shoot a lot of arrows at them!
in reply to: New to the Trad Scene #22140I started with carbon arrows, but now shoot woods only, I love to make them and they fly great out of my longbows! As to broadheads I use Ace standards 145 gram and also have some Magnus snuffers! As to small game heads I use mostly Blunts and judos would like to try some of those Ace Hex heads at some point! Its all personal preferance thing as to arrows points etc, they all will get the job done!
in reply to: muck boots #22134I wear Lacrosse Alpha Burleys, 1000 gram thinsulate, very warm, almost knee high and waterproof! Not bad to walk in either, best to buy a size up unless wide width are available! Never cared for Mucks I could never get a good fit ankles were always tight!

in reply to: Where do you get your tradional supplies from #19988I buy from many places, 3 rivers, Braveheart, Kustom King, sagitarrius archery, Lost Nation and I usually save money for supplies from the vendors at Kazoo show, compton and Great Lakes longbow shoot! I also stop at Wilderness Dreams in Sand Lake Mi, great little trad shop, whenever I am on my way to Grand Rapids to visit my son!
