in reply to: Okay, here's the pics #55186
Well thank you Bounty Hunter. But I will fess up,,,I do have a complete mental break down from time to time while making a shot. Sometimes it’s hard to put three good shoots together. There are times when I anchor and can see the shot perfectly and then there are times that I can’t see it at all. I hope someone can comment on this or am I the only one.
in reply to: Toxophile or Toxophilite? #55166Be careful…Ya know if you use either of those terms in describing yourself while in conversation with someone,,,they might think that you have some kinda disease, or at least take a step back.
in reply to: Okay, here's the pics #55121Yeah, is a matter of being consistent with everything, (draw length, release, bow arm, hand position, anchor, pulling through the shot, back tension)…that’s the hard part. It’s always a work-in-progress. There’s also a saying that seems to ring true more than not,,,”It’s all between the ears.”
in reply to: Scents for Hunting #50677Yeah I hear ya Steve, scouting and woodsmanship are the way to go in an ideal traditional world. But lately it seems that one is up against “High-tech” bow hunters (come’er deer, cover scents, trailcams, fancy tree stands, modern photo print camo not to mention a bow that will shoot 320FPS). So this year I got me a ghillie poncho (ameristep 3d, just got it yesterday) and some buck lure. Who knows,,,all that just might scare them off. I agree that all that kind of stuff makes the woods smell completely different to the deer. (Just like hoppe’s on you gun during rifle season.) I used to just hide behind my quiver of arrows, now I got this poncho which may be more trouble than it’s worth, but gonna give it a try.
in reply to: western NY trad club #40383Hello nybubba,
I have a camp in Sherman, NY and noticed a few weeks ago that there was a 3d shoot in the area. Don’t know if it was trad only,,,I was heading to the trad shoot at Presque Isle. Do you know anything about it?in reply to: Ghillie Poncho #37783Hey brennanherr that looks great, nice job! I’ll have to work on getting one ready for the season.
Thanksin reply to: Ghillie Poncho #36479Thanks brennanherr, Yeah a picture would be great. What I’ve been getting so far is all good and tells me that ya gotta customize to make it work. Glad I’m starting this project early enough to have it ready when the archery deer season starts.
in reply to: Ghillie Poncho #35799Thanks jpchilton, That was very helpful. I was thinking about the one at three rivers, glad to know it works. You gonna use it again this year?
in reply to: Ghillie Poncho #35559Scout, Thanks, I’ll give it a look see.
FUBAR, Nice try.in reply to: Ghillie Poncho #34401Yeah, I had thought about that,,along with the arm guard. Also what I’m thinking about the poncho is that you don’t have to put it on until you’re at your spot,,, whereas with the jacket and pants, you have to wear them as outer garment. I hunt off a folding stool and could drape the poncho over every thing. Would like to try one on first, but only seen them on line. Three Rivers has one and there is one called Bushn-a-bag.
in reply to: Left Wing, Right Wing,,,no difference #54213Thanks,,,I’ll look into that.
in reply to: Left Wing, Right Wing,,,no difference #42858Yeah I agree with ya Chad. I don’t mix the feathers. Just fletched RW with a LW helical clamp. No problems with flight characteristics or point of impact. Didn’t know about the smooth side, rough side thing. Learn something new every day! Thanks.
PS: By-the-way, just robinhooded one of them today.
