Thermacell, no oder and puts a mosquito free dome around you. Let me know if it works on the black flies

Yesterday, Oct 5 was the 48th anniversary of my dads passing, I was 10 Y.O.So when my son came along I had all these great plans as to what he and I would do together. He wasn’t interested. After H.S. he joined the Marines and was deployed to Afganistan. At least we thought it’s not Iraq. Well Oct 10 2005 we received the second worst call a parent can get from your sons commanding officer, he had been wounded and was being flown to Germany. The corp then called and said we should prepare to fly to Germany if we wanted to see our son alive.
Long story short, he proved them wrong. Now he makes plans for he and I. It’s only too late when they are gone. Get your sons/daughters out early and often. My memories will be me and my son, my dad passed too soon.

My resons are the simple fact that I’m just starting to get back into shooting after a bout with a pinched nerve in my shoulder. I haven’t shot a bow in 3 years. I could have bought a bow with training wheels and been ready in a couple months, BUT!!! it just wouldn’t be the same.

Well guess what, I’m 58 and been shooting bows for years and just found out, through this web site and TX bow hunters, you don’t just buy a bow and arrows and just start flinging them. The education never ends. I wish I would have lerned sooner.

Just curious, have you checked the brace height? Reading up on tuning a bow, checked mine and it was 2 1/2″ under. Set at 8″ as the bowyer recomended definately increased the draw weight

If you get down to Austin, get in touch with Bob Sarrels, he makes a good bow and has several in stock bows ready to go. You can drop by and shoot several and see which one fits your needs. I shoot one of his recurves. His web site is sarrelsarchery.com

Get your self some judo points and go stump shooting. Walk through the woods and shoot at stumps and any solid object at an unknown distances.

When I was stationed in Fairbanks AK (71-72) I would spend my pidly spare cash on Pendalton (sp?) wool cloths. Sill have the coat and it’s in better shape than me. Are they still around? Not a lot of call for heavy wool in TX 🙄

What poundage long bow is that? If it’s not around 30-45 @ 28″ it may just be too heavy for you as a beginer. Take it from someone who tried to start with a 70# @ 28″ because that was what my compound was. Someone who knows a lot more than me will chime in, but that is info they will need.
