Buzzard…would you mind posting a pic of the Zwickey when you get a chance? I would think that a broadhead would stick into whatever you were shooting at regardless of the point.

      Do you keep them dull?

I hunted with judos, blunts, and rubber bludgeons (in case of tree shots) last year. Killed a few rabbits with the bludgeon but I’m switching to hunting with my wood arrows this year and have considered the Bartas.

My biggest complaint with them is that you can’t put them in a backquiver and pull them easy. If you have multiple Barta-tipped heads, they seem to get caught up in the quiver. You can say the same for judos though. I may move to the hammer.

I’ve hunted with my Asbell shirt all year. Picked up a nice red/black one at the expo. Used it as an under and a pullover shirt. I’m going to pick up a sleeveless vest with a hood this year.

I get all of my Chundoo from Twig. They are GREAT people. Just ordered 2 dozen of the pass-through stumpers as well and they only charged me $5.00 a dozen to taper them as I didn’t have anything that could handle the Ramin shafts.

I prefer Chundoo to any other shaft I have tried. Unfortunately I have tried to stain them all and only recently found out that dye is much better.

As it happens I know the folks at ABS and trust their judgement, but that just proves the point all over again. Nothing I see on the Internet is true unless I know who put it there or can backtrack it to a known source. That’s why I would begin a statement like the original post with “According to the ABS Website… ” I’ve just seen enough stupidity and outright falsehood masquerade as the truth in cyberspace. Smart people get fooled. Don

Well put. The “According to…” is extremely important, especially if spread by a reputable source. Cotton’s statement:

I just got this off of Facebook, so if your going to Africa check this out.

Was an immediate red flag for me. 😀

I wasn’t sure if the post was edited after the fact though. I totally agree with you if that is the case. The OP would very much seem like a factual statement without that lead in.

We all need to be careful.

If you are looking for something cheap – the Grayling puts a pretty wicked helical on an arrow but they also put a death grip on the fletching. You have to tweak it just right but they work great once you find a setting that works.

I just switched to a JoJan I bought on clearance and I love it. The fact that the clamp depends on gravity to keep the feather on the arrow rather than a magnet is wonderful.

Again, you have to tweak it to get it to work right.

Oh boy…Ripforce and I can’t wait to buy a bow for this one either:

That is my daughter Aubrey. 7 months as of Sunday.

The following is from the posting by Alaska Bowhunting:

Already three bowhunters that we know of have experienced this while transiting through the country.

Odd that they would post hearsay, but if I was planning a trip to Africa and heard that Hunters were having trouble with their gear, I would appreciate this information and look into it. That seems to be the intention of the posting.

Not to imply that you are slapping Cotton on the wrist Don, but he was simply spreading the message to check it out.

While the Net is plagued by misinformation, it is also the quickest and best way to spread the word so that others can investigate – and it is their responsibility to do so.

Awesome. I’d like to get into cresting but haven’t had the money to buy a jig or paint.

What did you use to do these?

I go through phases. Sometimes I really like shooting my longbow with the quiver on and swear I shoot better with it. Other days I can’t STAND it.

I use my Great Northern for deer, backquiver for target shooting and small game.

I’ve wanted to hunt with my backquiver more and more but I don’t like the heads dulling on the inside from moving around and I think that broadhead sheaths defeats one of the primary perks of a backquiver – fast reloading.

I have no problem moving through the woods with them. I just sling the quiver under my armpit and pinch it when moving through brush.

When the arrow is nocked, the growth rings should run perpendicular to the bow string (i.e. string is up and down; grain runs left and right). If you nock your arrows and the grain runs every which way, I’d return them and buy from somewhere else, because the person fletching them didn’t have a clue what they were doing.

I set my arrows up this way as well, but honestly, I’m not seeing the difference. The first dozen arrows I fletched were incorrect and they fly fine. I’ve since made 3 dozen arrows (the correct way)of the same spine, length, and point weight and they all fly the same.

My understanding is that if the arrow were to fail on the string, setting them up this way would prevent injury as the arrow would break away from the archer.

Until someone shows me proof…I’m a skeptic but it doesn’t hurt to be on the safe side.

I still buy them both, but a tradbow app would be awesome!

I kind of like it that we are NOT mainstream for many of the reasons already mentioned above. I kind of feel like we are the underground and like it that way. If everyone did it, I wouldn’t be as inclined as makesmoosecry also pointed out. I feel like we are the bootlegged demo of the mordern archery world.

Mainstream (to me) means hunting shows and advertisements. People who watch hunting shows tend to only focus on the KILL. A buddy who works in a bowhunting store always says that the only videos that sell are kill shots or product related.

Our ilk generally do it for the hunting experience with the kill as the icing on the cake. This isn’t generally a big seller in our modern impulsive society.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to push you one way or the other. Mainly offering a comparison as far as the build is concerned. I thought my Bama was extremely narrow in the riser when I received it. Nothing like any bow I had ever shot.

The MUTTs are even thinner than that but I would call Mike and find out if you can customize your riser thickness and what not.

They are really well priced and a cool bows.
