in reply to: WHATS EVERYONE SHOOTING? #19980Right now I am hunting with my 52″ Maddog Midsize recurve. Early season I was shooting my 56″ Kanati longbow. I love both bows! Filled my doe tag with the Kanati. Now trying to fill the buck tag with the recurve.
in reply to: Tell Us About Your Username #13342Last fall I shot my first buck. He went 60 yards down wind of me and laid down. While I waited for him to pass, a hawk landed in a tree between us. The buck and I watched the hawk for 10 minutes before the hawk left. The buck started to notice my scent. He rose and came right back to me. I shot him again(this time low). He ran off. I went after him in 30 minutes but found him in a creek alive. I left him to die overnight. When I came in the am he was gone. I spent 1 month searching for him. I found out 2 months later that a man that owns the property he died on beat me to him and hid the evidence. Now everyday on my way to town I pass his head hanging from a dog cage.
It was hard on me. My 1st buck. Anyways, Ron LaClair deemed me LadyHawk due to my buck being named Hawk Buck because of the hawk that landed between us.in reply to: short bows #13329My longbow is 56″ and my recurve is 52″. I love the short bows. I have a short draw so the shorter limbs work better for me.

in reply to: Ground Pounding It! #56922I love hunting from the ground. The first time you bleet during early rut will get you going. Nothing crazier than having bucks run in on you while you are sitting behind a few sticks that you tied together. Thought my heart would pop out of my chest!
LHin reply to: Anyone going after spring Turkey #29199We open the Monday after Easter and I can’t wait. I love turkey season!!!!!! Since I hunt archery only I get an entire month. My husband brought me home a new call this week. I can’t wait to get out there. Good luck everyone!
in reply to: First Long Bow #63132If I was in your shoes, I would go out and shoot as many different bows as I could. Go to a local trad shop or hit a rondy this summer. If you are like most of us, you will get the bow sickness and always be looking and trading your bows. I would not go top dollar on your first bow. Used bows are a great way to get the feel of what you like. Chances are you will change your likes.
