Carbon arrows should work fine as long as they are spined correctly. That will depend on your draw length, but probably a 400 spine arrow would be a good place to start.

I had alite practice with my 50# rebel today and it felt good. If you stick with their wood bows, you’ll get a quality product. As the saying goes, “You get what you pay for.”:D

Thanks everyone for the comments. I put a string on it and got to shoot with my 6.5 yr old daughter on Saturday. We were competing to see who got more bullseyes. In the end we tied. Its a nice shooter, but about 5 lbs more than I’m used to. I’ll get the hang of it.

in reply to: 3D Ranges #22970

I also live in Portland but have yet to hit any of the 3d ranges. I practice plenty at the indoor ranges, but I’m a little hesitant to try the 3d range having no knowledge of what to expect shooting trad only. Any suggestion on which to start with?

Read this article. The hawaiian shirt part is pretty interesting. Also, as a photographer I try to think in black and white. Red usually turns out as black on black and white film. I always wondered why someone would choose black and red for a hunting jacket.

                I have 4. If you don’t include my daughter’s and wife’s bows.

32# Greatree (first bow) doesn’t get used much anymore

50# Martin Rebel (shoots great under 15 yards)

45# Ben Pearson (favorite bow, shoots great 8inch groupings at 20 yrds)

35# Darton Clipper (perfect condition found at an antiques store for $30)

It’s addicting but I think I’m cut off for now. My wife keeps asking me when I’m going to sell one.

If you don’t mind the drive to Hood River, OR, there is Raptor Archery. He does nothing but trad. He also has a website.
