Most major Archery Orgs. will have you shoot a qualifier to class you. Small proprietary functions may establish their own rules.

And now Parker has a self cocking Crossrifle! I cannot believe they are in Archery seasons. MONEY!!!!!!Drives the Hunting channel for sponsorships. The Hunters on the shows strive for “kill footage”, “Did you get that”? etc. Turned it into a “Sport” with the Roman Empires Lust for the Arena! Same mentality only legal. The Hunt is a Journey. How you prepare yourself and conduct it depends on what you expect to gain from the experience. To me it is like a Venture into the Wilds with a minimum amount of disturbance. I do not disturb it, I blend in! When I leave, nothing knows I was there. Anything more than this is Rape of the gift! Go, be there, leave it unmolested. Monstor trucks and ATV’S along with diesel started campfires and trash is the sibling of the techno thrill and kill adrenaline rush, arm waving Drama Masters of the hunting show Groupies. Arena style Samantics and false emotionally inflicted success upon the Eco! Yes! I pick up Beer cans from these SLOBS too. We must protect it from these Rapists along with Preserving Bow Hunting! How? Notice the spread of the Virus and join those who actually do something about it. BCHA!!!!!!

Anti’s always looking for a morsel to garner support in any way they can, especially with the “Urban Folk” who have never Hunted. I just argued this on the PBS forum! I do not claim my Bow hunting to have ever been a Competition with anyone else but myself!!!!!! How is it that a “Professional Bow Hunter” would have it on his magazines front page?? Yes and think about it for a moment. Just the sort of thing those against “Our way of life” would like to say “Bloodsport” and along with it, all the chest beating drama they could muster to those who could really only remember the negative as they enter the voting booth! It is not, and should not be considered a “Sport”. It is the fulfillment of the total outdoor experience and a way of life. Yes! The “Sporter-iz-ing” of our Beloved Bow Hunting are actually butchering the real reason we hunt!

            Right here Robin; http://www.reddenmarine.com/view_brand_products.cfm?action=Brand&department=0&category=992&brand=49&counter=0&letter=0&subcategory=0

Cut off a section of the rope(3/8’s diameter)about an inch and a half long and slide it onto the string via the hollow center of the rope. Tie in the middle and brush out the strands till it becomes separated to form a “Puff” of fibers. It will expand and puff out more as the Bow is shot. The “Puff” is much like a cotton ball when it spreads out. Different colors of this ‘Marine rope” made from Dyneema, a material used in the manufacturing of Bowstring material, sheds moisture and does not add significant weigh to the string, Being water proof and lite weight enhances the string dampeming for an effective “string silencer” and does not rob the Bow of speed due to the lite mass weight properties of the silencer.

I have had several and never had a “Bad one”. My only complaint would be marked poundage accuracy. They are marked in 5 pound increments and sometimes make the weight, not always.

Any regular guy who stays after it! With this criteria; Honest, benevolent, trustworthy, fair to the animal he hunts, and law abiding. I have made some mistakes in my youth! Now I will live and hunt to be an example! That is the guy I admire. No one guy has ever got it done for the entire world of Bow hunters. It has taken the efforts of many who share the “Art”of using Archery equipment to take Game. Actually, all of us should strive toward that end for the longevity of Bow hunting in the “Traditional Way”.:)

Best course of action is to support the People that lobby your interests! In this case, just join and support BHA. I live in Arkansas and hunt in Colorado. I am a member of BHA and feel that is the best way to support myself, and those who live there. My way of giving back to a worthy lobby.:)

I just wash my clothes in a generic unscented, or as close as I can get detergent. Air dry outside if thee are no foreign odors present. Good ole outside air is hard to beat!
I also use Ivory hand soap to shower with, seems the thing to do. Much ado but, being clean and downwind is the best precaution! Avoiding a vehicle ride with you hunting clothes on is also wise, unless you are sure no air fresheners, perfumes, or other stink is present in the vehicle. I think if they can smell you at all, their gone!:)

I think it is curiosity more than any other factor. I think the only real Deer cover scent is No scent at all! If they cannot smell you, your ahead of the game! The best way to do that is keep the wind in your face and hunt based on the predominate wind direction for the day. Having said that, I would think a “cover scent” would be a derivative of the natural surroundings. More blending in to the scent stream than being a curiosity.:)

“Uncle Ted” defecated on himself, and did not bath for am month before his Military entry exam after he was drafted! He ate junk food, and lived “unhealthy” intentionally to avoid serving his country during Viet Nam! Others went, others died! Ted “intentionally” avoided it. Now he sits on The NRA board and is pushing Crossbows! He rights songs about Fred Bear, and also flaunts his service to our Military Servicemen and women who did not avoid serving as he did! I choose who I admire! Ted is not on my list to admire, or represent me on anything!!!!!!Especially Bowhunting.

I use the arrow as a reference.I am a split vision gap shooter I guess, not a snap shooter. I do not want to be a snap shooter unless I have to be! I want an intentionally aimed shot each time. I do find myself shooting faster sometimes. When I find myself doing this, I go back to the bale and practice my sequence. I like to hold for at least a second or two. I like what Rick Welch said, ‘admire my sight picture” and hold for enough time to do that. I think snapping brings forth TP! AND BAD HABITS.

There’s little in life more exciting than a new custom bow.

Glad to see I am not alone in this respect!
