in reply to: Target Panic #59544
Hey Standingbear, thats who helped me. Jay has a great book on TP but I emailed him. He knows the psychology because he is a Shrink. Great stuff, and one should get the book. I did not need after he so graciuosly helped me for nothing. Google him up for the book.
in reply to: The Line In The Sand: Traditional Equipment #58785Hey Ray great looking family and pray Blessings for health and well being to them. Yeah its just a quirk of mine to hear them say that. I am like you on this but the TV shows with the guys toteing compounds and the commercialization of things takes away from the premise of things. Seems like they strive for Easy rather than fullfilment and gratitude. All the pressure to kill a Deer on the shows and get footage that is impressive has caused a Drain on the Sacred aspect of the Hunt. Its not the gun, its the shooter! I have been trying to tell people who favor more gun control the same thing. I think this is an example of similar injustice on a small scale comparison.
in reply to: Greed…the difference between rifle and bow hunters #58779The guy is a jerk and just acted on the hunting talk he overheard. It might be greed in his case but to form a general view of gunhunters based on this experience would be unbalanced and unfair. I would talk to the guys about this and have the guy kicked off the lease next year. Another reason why I hunt alone. I would love to have a good hunting partner but they are hard to come by and when found should be maintained by sharing the hunt and the work. Maybe someday you will find this, maybe not. I am past it, and enjoy being away from the Jerks.
in reply to: The Line In The Sand: Traditional Equipment #58673Hey Snuffer, whats the Bow in your pic?
in reply to: The Line In The Sand: Traditional Equipment #58250I’m not against compounds for hunting use. They are here and implemented widely. I think perimeters should be set now that limit the amount of let-off etc. that is allowed in the PY books. The Manus will drive the Compound into a machine that will far exceed what the initial compound designs were. They will make them in competition with each other till it becomes a 50 yd. plus game in Bowhunting. Heck it already is!I hate it when the High tech compound shooters cal it the “stick and string”. Should be, Machine casting an arrow! Commercialized get the “Fastest shooting Bow” and other sayings that tease the competition to catch them etc.
in reply to: The Line In The Sand: Traditional Equipment #58166I stop just before I pick it up and realize the compound is really not a Bow. Then I pick up my one string.:D
in reply to: When and why do you replace your glove? #57517BIGSHOT Snuffer! Thats the Glove.:)
in reply to: How much bow and arrow for hogs? #57473Bet you will do it to em Snuffer! That 45 would have been a “Laser Bow” for the middle American Indians. I am leaning toward the Grizzley Type heads. You know the ones that Dr Ashby was testing before the “High Dollar” heads came out from Alaska Bowhunting. I am thinking the addition of this type head will give more Pene and fly dartlike.
in reply to: How much bow and arrow for hogs? #57442Hey Snuffer! At least the amount you can shoot accurately and effectively to put a sharp head into the “Pump Station” at twenty yards. How much depends on you! I would like to say the minimum is around 40-45 pounds but if you can draw and shoot effectively with a 60 pounder, that is what I would use. I like the 50 weight Bows but that is what I can draw and hold for at least 6 seconds without too much fatigue that starts me to collapse in form at anchor. Make em bleed Snuffer!:D
in reply to: God's Dog… #57384This was a good thread guys! Thanks Steve for the story in the beginner stage. Blessings, Amen.:D
in reply to: Target Panic #57084Hey Patrick do not believe for minute that this is an insurmountable problem.I would approach this thing with a positive attitude towards a good outcome. I shoot pretty good without a clicker and have used the bale and the confidence exercises I mentioned. I would just not “FIGHT IT” as some have mentioned. Relax and enjoy your recovery exercises and you will come back in time as a better shooter than before. Do not join the Pessimistic attitudes, be positive and enjoy you shooting.:D:D
in reply to: Target Panic #56611I’ll defer to your authority on this. I am glad you don’t have TP problems anymore.:)
in reply to: Target Panic #56577OK, It did not work for you but, I think you are the exception and not the rule. All the top shooters use the Bale as part of their training to work on form and control. Larry Yien, Rob Jenkins, Byron Ferguson and on the list goes. The bale builds your form into the sub conscious, which is what we strive for in the shot so aiming is the focus. I suggest that the lack of this may be at the root of your problem with Target Panic and do not realize it. That is why the clicker works well for you, because you shoot the shot sequence consciously.
