in reply to: Different arrows for each draw weight? #25095
Good luck to ya, Ashford, and enjoy the process. Traditional archery is so much fun.
in reply to: Maximizing my moose mojo #21720Good luck in your lottery. We have ours (Maine’s) on Saturday. Fingers are crossed. Again.
in reply to: Some camping advice… #21691Some interesting tips there, Alex. Thanks for sharing with us.
in reply to: "The Good Hunt" film trailer #61506Can’t wait. Seems like a great project.
in reply to: Hunting in grizzly country! #55861Have any of you folks had to use bear spray? Does it work well? What’s the effective range on one of those cans?
in reply to: My Elkheart has arrived!! #52522Man, that’s a beautiful bow. ( bet it shoots great, too, coming from the Javaman. Enjoy it, Alex.
in reply to: My first "harvest"… #52515Good find. See, it pays just getting out in the woods any time we can.
in reply to: Naming your bow #51190I, too, name my bows. I’ve a 60# Martin ML-14 Mountaneer that I call Brutus. My new go-to bow is a 50# Bear Grizzly that really hasn’t earned a name yet, so I’ve been calling it Grizz until it does earn its name.
in reply to: Turkey Hunting to Bear Scouting #42277Sounds like you should have great bear hunting this season. Good luck to you, Etter. I’ll be chasing them also this year for the first time in many years.
in reply to: Too much fun #42272Looks like an excellent day. Wish we had some cottontails around here, but snowshoe hare isn’t too bad, and they’re certainly fun to hunt.
in reply to: Noise, wheels and getting around. #42269ATVs aren’t only noisy, but, man, do they scar up the trails, especially when the weather is wet. And, as Dave pointed out, the average 4-Wheeler doesn’t mosey along—they’re flat out zipping. I wonder how much money is spent yearly by rescue teams and such on injured riders in the wilds of this country.
in reply to: Fred Bears Memories of the Hunt. #25878Very nice, indeed.
in reply to: Feral Hogs Make the NY Times #25862That’s a really good article—Thanks for sharing it. Wild pigs are certainly a concern for many states, but hopefully they don’t find their way to my state of Maine. What a terrible thing that would be for our great forests.
in reply to: Stonehenge a giant blind? #23785Sounds like pretty fertile hunting grounds.
in reply to: The most useful knot tutorial ever. #23782That’s a pretty good sitw, Ben. I can see I’ll be spending much time there watching ropes tie themselves into knots. Thanks for sharing.
