in reply to: Paleo Site #31229
This is a great post and on a wonderful site. Thank you guys for always making my day.
in reply to: Memorable Wildlife #50835I once watched two bald eagles lock talons and float down in slow circles together. Was simply peaceful. And tender.
in reply to: Bear Scouting Pics #50828Looks like you have a few bears around ya. Good luck this season.
in reply to: Fletching color #10961My hunting arrows are fletched with a natural barred cock feather and two white hen feathers on a white crown dip. Seem to work fine. My stumping arrows are fletched with two blue and one white, and they work well, too. As mentioned above, I usually see the blue before seeing the white.
in reply to: of bucks and logging #10946If I’m not hunting around my house here in Maine, I’m up in the northwest part of the state. Most of that land is owned by Plum Creek and is continually logged for paper pulp and such. The landscape is constantly changing, and with it my hunting and fly fishing strategies. Kind of a bummer to see the machinery move into a spot I’ve been settling into the past few years, but as David stated above, the deer and bear make use of the clear cuts, as do the moose.
in reply to: Your first trad kill… #10937Your first kill was a soccer ball? Did you get a broadside shot on it? Quartering away?
My first trad kill was a squirrel. No story, really.
in reply to: I have declared war on the squirrels! #51103I killed the first squirrel I ever took a shot at with my bow. Haven’t hit a single one since. I think that first shot was so far off the mark that the squirrel ran right into it. Might be a lesson in that, I suppose.
in reply to: Heat gun glue for arrows? #50511I use the same for gluing in inserts. Holds very well. Good luck, Dave.

Jim, Did you just fess up to being the Village Idiot of whom you originally wrote?
in reply to: Gillie Head and Shoulders Build Along #30521Great job, Jim. You’ve motivated me to begin collecting materials for my Gillie attempt. Thanks.
in reply to: Going Trad #30513Please put my name is the pile, WebMom. Thanks!
in reply to: Maximizing my moose mojo #30511Sorry to hear you didn’t get drawn. AS I’ve been saying for quite a while now, “There’s always next year.”
in reply to: What's your first hunt? #25105August 26th for bear here in Maine. And since it’s still fly fishing season then, I’ll be setting up camp in one of my favorite remote spots, fly fishing the mornings, then bear hunting the afternoon and evenings. Can’t wait.
in reply to: Maximizing my moose mojo #25102The Maine moose lottery has come and gone, and once again I was skunked. Sure do hope you get yours in NH.
in reply to: New Java Man on the block #25100Beautiful bow. The Javaman is an artist.
