I’ve been using the Targhee II. A bunch of us at work us an insulated model, but I’ve heard they stopped making that particular one

Never heard of it. Its in the cleaning section of the store? My worry is if you have to have it on thick enough to kill bugs, what damage can it do to you

You know, I’ve read where people say the Keens fall apart, but I’ve worn this pair for 3 years with no problems. I’ve worn them in the hills here in MI, NC and VA. I also wear them for everyday wear because they are so comfortable

OK, this is going to sound like a sales pitch since I am selling one, but Mahaska’s. 😀

Of course everybody wears boots differently, but my go to boot for pounding the mountains are Keen. They are light, good support and best for me are the boxy toe area

What style did you make with the juice cans? Does it have the holes around it. Those look to me to be the way to go

My dislike of canisters, besides wwhat you mentioned, is that I am never sure how much fuel is left and so I am always carryinbg another canister for backup. So now I have the weight of two. I only use food that needs rehydrating, so only boil water. I thought maybe the alcohol would work, though I see your points. I also have thought about the Drioxide tablets with the little folding stove. They also have those little stoves that you add sticks to and I believe a battery keeps a little fan blowing on the fire to keep it burning hot

Now ya’ll got me interested in the Shrews. I’ve never held one. Don’t know if I just missed them when I used to go the get togethers or they weren’t there then.

                          Thanks for the input.
My problem has been that I fell in love with the Great Northern Critter Gitter and all longbows I’ve bought since just don’t please me as much. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to afford the Critter. YET

I’ve never hunted out there in your mountains. Would it be cold enough that a feller would have trouble getting a good burn? Like the Zen site says, they get a little finicky when cold

Nice looking bow and buck. So I take it you like their bows?

                                Good advice.
I have a 60# Mahaska recurve I might consider selling ifn you are interested. I am only 1 1/2 hours or so from Rockford, so if you decide you are interesterd, maybe we can set up something where you can shoot it
