Same here. Headed out around 430-5 and just gonna play it by ear how far I make it tomorrow night.

I have a good bit of the normal light beers and about 18 good ones but I plan to pick up some variety on the way out. There are a lot of microwbrews in texas from what I understand.

I’ve been known to enjoy vodka with club soda as well. Really can’t do much with whiskey except Scotch and Irish. Maybe Bruce will turn me.

Smith, I would take a bottle of Bullet bourbon. It is a good straight if you never had it.

I do not mean to sound naive, but are javelin mean? If so I would take my 357 for a side arm.

As for the hat…I am not an expert there.

Have fun guys and take a bunch of pics!

From the videos I have seen they sure can be!!

But the main reason for a sidearm are the two legged variety of coyotes.

Who you callin’ a “bandejo?” And while we’re at it, what the heck is a “bandejo” anyway?

Nevermind – Urban Dictionary to the rescue. I grew up speaking Spanish, and that’s still a new one for me.

              Thats my Lebowski Spanish.

I’m carrying my 1911 .45. It’s not nearly as light as my .40, nor does it hold as much ammo, but I am much more accurate with it. I feel pretty confident it will hold its own against charging javelina and shootouts with bandejos.

I’ll also be bringing a good bit of oat soda (you can’t stay too hydrated in the desert) and maybe a decent bottle of scotch or two.

Bout to sharpen all my broad heads and do some more cyber research, as well as make my lists (daypack, camp gear, etc)

Shooting a longbow for the first time and just built a dozen arrows for the trip. Ready to rock!

I have tried several gloves and just can’t get used to it. In fact, I’m the only one in our little GA circle that shoots a tab but I can’t find anything I like better than a neet calf hair tab. Thin enough to feel the string and thick enough to protect you from the nock. Love them and they’re quite affordable.

Well, out of five of us, we only came back with one deer and it was killed with a white wolf beowulf recurve. (Not Mine).

We had a great trip, caught a lot of sea trout and saw a pile of deer. Due to the full moon, we saw most of our deer while walking to and from stands in the middle of the day. It was warm so we saw several cottonmouths and two eastern diamondbacks. I also had an interesting experience while crossing a slough in the dark when a 12 foot gator surfaced about 15 feet from me. It was exciting to say the least.

I got to shoot a few bows and the bowyer that makes zipper bows was there. Needless to say, I’m about to be out about 1100 bucks. He has one on the website that I really like so I won’t have to wait for it!

Sorry for the lack of photos but my phone broke on the first day and I never pulled out my big camera. Maybe Bunyan and Tommy will post some.

                          That is a fact.

I got lost bear hunting this year and it took a few hours to get unlost. Trusted my brain over my compass…. Big mistake!

Several times I had to sit and calm myself during the re-routing process.

Thanks guys. This is a hunt that I think every traditional bowhunter should experience once.

This was a thread that I bumped up from a while back. I did it because we are headed back this week.

We are headed back on Wednesday. Word is that the water in the sloughs is high and that the FWS is doing a good job of keeping the pigs under control. I’m glad to hear. Hate them with a passion!!!

I’m bringing waders to cross a slough that is going to be infested with gators and cottonmouths but I doubt anybody else will have that idea and it’s a great funnel. Plus, I have to carry the neoprenes three miles from camp.

We are really pumped. It’s going to be warm again so I have a sand gnat problem to deal with but I can’t wait.
