I have not been trout fishing, archery shooting, or woods walking yet this season.

Today I go digging for wild leeks, the kids have decided they like them and want them in everything!

Next weekend is a 3-D shoot, also with the kids.

Now, where did I stash my fly rod?

Stikstool I frequently use a hiking stick or staff in the woods and afield. The Stikstool is a nice three piece staff that reassembles into a tripod stool. I have the aluminum model. The seat and other parts pack into a small mesh bag. The seat height is lower than I would like, but otherwise I have no complaints about it. I offer it up as another possible option.

I actually got mine for painting outdoors on location. I have an easel that fits in a backpack and mounts on a tripod, also in the backpack, and didn’t want to have to lug a chair about with me.

Got out yesterday and put some arrows in my backyard target. And a few into the hard maple logs behind it.

Busted one off right at the field point, which is still stuck in the maple. Had one splinter and still have only found the feather end, you’ll think a nice red shaft would stand out in green grass. And had a feather come off one.

Thanks to you fellows on this forum I built these arrows myself and now have the equipment and know how to fix two out of three. Unlike years previous when a busted arrow was a serious thing, now I just put these aside for repair or replace and carried on shooting. It is a nice feeling.

Now I am going to try to pry the youngest out to shoot some with me.

Two ideas that come to mind are a small stencil, perhaps cut from a clear plastic packaging blister bubble, or check the model aircraft and model railroad custom decal makers. I know there are folks out there making custom decals in all sorts of shapes and sizes, no idea about price though.

It’s the rats with antlers (aka whitetails) chewing on the apple trees here. Almost don’t have to prune this year.

Rabbits aren’t nearly as bad. Did see a bunch of turkey’s taking a short cut across the pond, had me itching to take a shot.

Been seeing lots of turkey’s around here. Seems like smaller ones than I was seeing in the Fall.

Went out for a snowshoe scout, deer and rabbit tracks, no sign of turkey’s were I was, but also some dog or coyote tracks sniffing up behind the deer.

Took the girls to an indoor range with me yesterday. I think I have two more archers to equip now.

A great hog, great story, and great memories for the two of you I am sure.

Nothing quite that big in my neck of the woods, although the neighbors have seen a bear or two.

Glad he didn’t take a nite outta ya with those choppers!

Sugar shacks are steaming and smoking here. Of course we also have about two feet of snow in the forecast.

The fishing cartoon makes me think once again that it is no coincidence April Fools Day and Opening Day for Trout are the same day
