Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like a journey well taken and worth waiting for.

I’m not sure if these animals have the capacity to think this way, but if they did I would think that Pine Ghost would prefer to go down at your command over anybody else’s.

Thanks for the reply. That’s good to hear.

That’s a pretty interesting profession you have.

Egil’s Saga is probably my all-time favorite story. There aren’t too many unique characters (real or fiction) quite like him.

I’ve never gone bow hunting. I really plan on it this year though. I need loads more practice (I don’t think I’ll ever feel I’ve had enough).

I plan on hitting the Kankakee River State Park just several miles from my house as well as Mazonia State Park, also just a few miles away.

I live in a rural area on 2.5 acres. It might be plausible to hunt the small swath of land I live on (I know they are out there).

I’m not interested in tree blinds. I’d like to set up hasty ground blinds but I’m more interested in roving.

I’m not trying to hijack the thread, but would this be proper etiquette if hunting on public land?

Travelling lightly with my bow, quiver, arrows, and binos along the ground sounds like great fun to me.

The last thing I want to do is cross into an area where a hunter is already set up and patiently waiting for his chance to make a kill. As a new bow hunter I’m unfamiliar with etiquette. Thanks.

I’m very new to archery. I haven’t been practicing nearly enough to be confident in the field since returning to work and buying a home last April.

That needs to change. I need to get some broadheads and make sure my arrows are good to go.

My practice bow is a 30# Sage but my hunting bow is a 50# Sammick Phantom.

I don’t want to get too involved in scouting and I don’t want a tree blind. I just want to roam with some low power binoculars and see what I can see. Shoot what I can shoot.

I’ve heard excellent things about Omega Longbows. A guy by the name of Kegan makes them. He is a common commentor over at Archery Talk’s Traditional Archery section.

He seems like a great guy and users have sung praises over the quality of his bows. According to what I’ve heard his exceptional customer service is second to none. I’m thinking about picking up one of his Imperials.
