I just came across this site. Staghorn bows were built by Wm. “Bill” Pyle just outside of Merrill, Wi. back around the 60’s. Bill & wife Ellie started Staghorn near Merrill in 1957 and went through late 70’s. Staghorns were VERY popular back then. They were fast and smooth. I got my 1st one at 14 y/o and am now 66 y/o. Still have a Staghorn. ne year from what I understand the women’s Finnish Olympic team all shot Staghorn in Olympics.

Bill passed away in 2006. I remember him and he & wife were from Finland? Sweden? Somewhere like that. You could bargain with Bill, but his wife was tough to get a bargain. She held solid on prices. Both wonderful people. We were amazed as kids when we went there.

I found some info on google….STAGHORN FOUNDER PASSED AWAY – Stickbow.com’s “LeatherWall

Seemed like back in the 60’s in Wi. you shot a BEAR recurve or a STAGHORN recurve.  Staghorns were faster.
