      Thanx, but that is waaaaay beyond my extremely limited computer skills. I’m getting stuff written down in an actual folder.  Technologically I’m almost Amish.

        Not sure who Ed Scott is, but sure.

        Clean the limbs up with rubbing alcohol, mask off anything you don’t want painted and get a good grade of rattle can paint.  You can use camo stencils of leaves, or spray on a base coat, let dry and then cross hatch a couple more colors for a different kind of camo or just paint it black or whatever color suits you.

        I would avoid painting the grip area as it will wear off pretty quick.

          I seem to remember some film on a nature program that featured snakes ‘leaping’ from branch to branch. South American jungle I believe. The cool factor was pretty high.

          Snake pit target problem solved.  Gray foam pipe insulation sorta painted to look like a rattlesnake, couple of those goofy ‘googley eyes’ for the head and some stiff wire for a bit of curve.  When the head gets shot up I’ll just cut it back and replace the eyes.

            Horror story ????

            Wife is sick, truck is in the shop, and micro-soft sent me a ‘need to shut down / restart for upgrades’ notice.  No big deal, they do this every now and then. However, this time ALL of the log-ins on my desktop were wiped out.  I am NOT computer savvy and it’s been a rodeo getting back. Found another way in here off of another page after several tries to reset the password.  Fun times …………… NOT !!!!

            Now then ……….. Latest project; Chopping a hole in the caliche and filling it with clean sand for a 1 yard ‘snake target’.  (Don’t laugh; I’ve won bets with our compound brethren over that one yard gag.)  What I do need are some suggestions for targets.  Cigarette butts are nasty, Oreo cookies are to big and draw ants.  Mayhap a shiny penny ????

              Kees;

              While you’re at it grab a copy of his book ‘The Long Fix’.  I’m currently reading it and it meets / exceeds expectations.

                Mornings are the ONLY time to shoot around here lately. Been getting up to 106* by noon the last few days.

                Plus ………… Our sunrises are soooooo awesome that you can only stand to look at them with one eye.

                  Yeah, and the heck of it is that the booklet they give you when you buy your license is not actually ‘The Regs’.  It is a ‘summary’ of the actual Regs. Think Cliff Notes and you’ll have the right idea.

                  I had an issue with a Game Warden up in Washington years ago while coyote hunting.  When I went to G&F headquarters in Olympia and spoke to a Supervisor I was told “Well, that’s not in the Regs but you can be cited for it”.  That was the last time I hunted in that state.

                  >>>>——->  Lest someone think I’m anti-warden, No !!! I consider them valuable sources of information and in my entire lifetime I’ve only ran into a couple that were actual jerks.  I’ve shared my root-beers with more than one of the wardens I’ve met.

                    Well ………. The Grass Carp project is on hold despite what two different Rangers at the lake told me until I can chat with the local Game Warden. I’ve found conflicting paragraphs in the Fish Regs so until I know for sure it’s a no-go.

                    Pity ……………….. They could issue big game tags for these things.

                      One more thought; Are you pushing with your bow-arm shoulder or could it be rolling back in ???

                        Yes, photos would be a help.

                        A couple of things come to mind, though.

                        Are you shooting with a closed or open stance and is the forearm of your drawing arm in line with the arrow or out at an angle at full draw ???

                        And, most important, is the short draw working for you ??  If so, I would consider being very careful about making too many changes.

                          The understanding that I have regarding this lake is that years ago sterile grass carp were put in for weed control and were protected. Then common carp showed up in the lake and as mentioned, hard to tell apart in the water. The grass carp grew huge. Bowfishing for common carp was allowed and they got really spooky and went deep.  Where in most lakes common carp will lay in the weeds just under the surface, in this lake it’s really rare.

                          Then, Game & Fish took over management of the lake and brought it in under the statewide regs.  Grass carp, limit one a day, minimum 30″.

                          So ……………. I’m re-rigging my gear with a drum reel and a milk jug float.

                            Yeah, cool heads !!!  Since I’m pretty sure that the Patents expired on them it’s a shame that somebody can’t make them again. How awesome would a Deadhead in Zwickey green be ???? Or better yet, that blue that Zwickey used to use.

                            That hot insert left a mark. Can I claim it’s an arrow wound ????

                              Raymond;

                              Take this for what it’s worth; 2117s are a great shaft. I’ve shot a bunch of them. However, the Autumn Orange when in a bowquiver can catch the early morning or late evening light and literally glow.  Something you have to see to believe.

                                Sadly, the original rest was brittle and broke on the first shot. I also had to get an adapter for the stabilizer since the riser was oddly enough drilled & tapped 1/4-20.

                                I’ve shot it a few times in the workshop. A whole ‘nother experience going from a canted 60# bow to a vertical bow half that weight.  I still need to spend some time with an arrow chart to get the proper spined arrows.   Somehow it just doesn’t seem right shooting carbons out of this bow.

                                  If that’s ‘normal’ it’s kind of spooky when you think about it.
