If you could hunt anything what would it be? I would have to say a Bighorn is at the top of my list, followed by a remote moose hunt, and rounded off by a antelope hunt. Nate

My dream hunt would be if 9 months every year were Sept. The other 4 would be October, April, and May. 😀

A couple hunts in northern Maine in the 80s with people now gone were a couple of the best. Big bodied northern bucks with tracks in the snow larger than I’ve seen to this day. What classic northeastern hunting was. If I could recreate that, that’s my Dream Hunt.

If there are no restrictions, I mean truly my dream hunt. I would say a Yukon moose hunt with The Rack Man, but a close second would be Elk. We have moose, deer and bear in my back yard but Getting in bow range of a screaming bull elk is definitely on my bucket list.
-
I would love to do a spot and stalk bear hunt along the coast of Alaska. I have read every word Fred Bear ever wrote (we all have, I’m betting) but those ship board bowhunts fascinate me. Maybe it’s all the crab they ate….:D

Under my profile I list “anything out west” for this question. I mean that, but if I had to narrow it down, sheep would be it. I simply love the mountains (though I hate heights). It would be just an awesome hunt.
Now if the question were what animal whould I most like to take, the answer would be a bit different. I would have to say moose, followed by elk and then caribou.

My true dream hunts all involve family members who are no longer alive. Aside from that, I’ll second Roger’s thoughts on spot and stalk Alaskan black bear (I’d add blacktail deer in there too).
-
always thought blacktail deer in Alaska that would be my dream hunt.
Still hope to do that someday, but I think my best hunts (and the hunts I think about the most) will come when the grandkids start tagging along on hunts. I say this because
my best hunts to date were when my kids started hunting with me, and the hunts with my dad and brothers when I was a kid.

Ok he said dream “hunt” not dream year.:? I know yours is a dream year, cause your dream year, besides being mostly Sept and Oct, has 13 months in it. The rest of us only get 12:D

My dream hunt would be a guided, 2 week hunt for Rocky Mtn elk. Someone else footin the bill. Hey if you’re gonna dream, dream big, right?
-
It’s easy to get lured with all sorts of exotic desires, but really, being able to hunt the mountains and valley that surround my home, without having to go anywhere far, is all the “dream” I need.

Handi,
When you find that benefactor I’ll send the bill for classic 3-4 month full bag, including the Big 6, African Safari. 😆

I found it interesting that you guys mentioned Blacktails! I have hunted both sitka and columbia. I think columbia are a ton harder to hunt. sitka are fairly easy to hunt just harder to get to. I would also like to extend a hand to anyone that would like to hunt Oregon Blacktails. I take it for granted, but we have some of the best hunting in the state, within 30 minutes of my house. If anyone ever wants to come out Ill donate my year around scouting knowledge and Ill even place some stands for ya. Nate

My dream hunt would be to take my brother elk hunting. He went off to Colorado eleven times trying for elk with a rifle. He never saw one. He shoots an old 1956 Bear “Kodiak” out in his yard, but he hasn’t hunted with a bow since he was 15 years old. I’d just be tickled to see him get one of these big Western Washington elk or one of the rocky transplants we have here in Skagit County.

Mountain caribou spot n stalk

Smithie nailed it for me – to be able to bowhunt red deer, sitka and fallows, pheasant and small game on my own little island here would be my dream hunt. But until the legislators change their narrow minds, I’d have to say a North American deer/elk hunt would be a dream come true.
-
I’d hafta say that my #1 choice would also be Alaska for bear & moose. A close second would be maybe Colorado for elk, because I think that elk hunting fits my “style” of hunting. Although, at this point, ANY hunt that that ends with me putting meat on the table, that I put there with my bow, would truly be a dream come true!
-
While I would love to hunt elk in the Rockies or moose in the Yukon, my dream hunt is similar to that of Smithhammer: hunting on my own property with family. As my daughters will soon move from little girls to tweens to teens, I hope that they will continue to want go into the woods looking for deer, rabbits, quail, and turkeys. My dream hunt will occur when they graduate from kids bows to hunting bows, and we go afield…together.

Where are vyou at now John? I missed a lunker last year and hope to get him this year!

Man, cant believe the guys that have said elk as their dream hunt…in fact, one guy said that elk hunting fit his style of hunting…but no one spoke of Africa, or the gaint mule deer of New Mexico in January. I dream of chasing gaint whitetails in Ohio and Kansas, exotics in Texas and the gaint desert mulies and cous deer in Mexico, mountain goat here in Colorado…
