I had a friend of mine approach me today after the morning church service. He said, “I know your deer hunting season has not started off the way you wanted with all the fires in the area.” He then continued with these magical words… “I have access to a 2000 acre ranch in Zone D8 on the ranch there are deer, hogs, bear and turkey.” I am sure at that moment my mouth was wide open and I may have even been drooling. He continued by saying, “If you would like I can get you access to hunt the ranch…just let me know when you would like to go.” But wait it gets even better he said, “There is a rustic little cabin that you can stay in if that is acceptable, also there are about three ponds with some good fishing.”
My response…Yes! Yes! and Yes!
Moral of the story…it pays to go to church. Actually I am the Pastor of the church so it paid off using deer hunting illustrations in the message!
I will let you all know if this story actually comes true! 😀

Cameron: glad to hear of your good fortune. That is a very generous offer. I can only rely on the media for reports on the fire situation and from what I have seen it looks devastating. I hope you and yours are safe. So terrible to hear of people losing their homes and all their possessions.
Have a great hunt and take advantage of the offer to use the camp. It just might turn into an opportunity that lasts a long time.

I got news today that the owner and his family are hunting the ranch this week through the weekend. I should get news later this week if they will open the opportunity for me and my son.
It would actually be pretty amazing to have a place to go like this with a crazy group of guys like you all.

If something sounds to good to be true it is typically to good to be true. This hunt opportunity faded away. The rancher decided against opening up his land to a friend of the friend. So back to the public land I go.
