As if the Title was not clear enough. I have purchased 2 dozen arrows 1 dozen from 3 river and another dozen from a local shop. I finally got to test them last night after months of perperation, but my excitment lasted only but a brief second as I went to nock new wooden arrow for the first time it seemed to be a loose fit in my string but it was being held in there but BARELY. I did shoot my arrows and not one of them fit like my old aluminum arrows did. Is this something that I should worry about? Should I just get a new string? It concerns me due to the fact that a couple of times when I draw the bow back the arrow would come off the string and fall to the ground, and then the other time, thank goodness I saw it, but the arrow was off the string and resting just to the right of the string. No clue what would have happened if I would have dry fired that bow. Has anyone else ever had this issue and what was the solution to fix it? Thanks for the help.

If they are plastic nocks just heat up some water and dip the nocks in for just a short time the squeez the together until the fit the way you want. Have your bow string ready so you get the correct fit.

I was wondering if that would work, that is exactly was I was planning on trying tonight, thanks

I’ve water heated nocks in the past to tighten the bit on the string but found that over time they will spread back. If I have sloppy fitting nocks I just run a serving or two of dental floss around the string serving to build it up. If it is a tad tight to start with I find that after afew shots the dental floss will mash down to the proper size.

I second Troy, having over-heated and ruined a few plastic nocks. Try one serving thickness of dental “tape,” which is wide and flat. Check the fit. Continue until it’s right. The trend these days is toward thinner strings as Fast Flight continues to increase in popularity. On my heavier bow I shoot 8 strands and 6 strands on the lighter bow. Slip-in plastic nocks for carbon arrows generally are a better fit for the thinner strings, but that won’t do you any good. Some makers of thinner strings are compensating by adding more serving. I predict nocks will soon come in various sizes for linen (thickest) B50 and FF. For now, dental tape is the ticket. IMHO

Dental floss eh…never would have thunk it but that seems to be a possible idea. My sting just broke the day after I shot so I need to get a new string this weekend and I am going to try to see what I can do for the thickness so make a more snug fit. Thanks for the suggestions I figure I will try both so that I have experiance with both ways.
