I just watched a video on Youtube entitled “Wild Boars Shield Stops Arrow”. It contains footage of a penetration test conducted on a dead boar with a 2114 shaft, a 100 grain broadhead, four edge broadhead. The outfitter who posted the video has some great information, all of which supports Dr. Ashby’s findings. Thought someone would find it interesting.

Just looked that up its crazy guys. The guys shootin a 70# Mathews switchback with some aluminium arrows he shoots this dead hog and it only penetrates about an inch behind his broadhead…it looked like a 3 blade replaceable head to me…and believe it or not one of the blades was broken off uhhh….imagine that. Just proves again a heavy bow shooting light arrows won’t do to much to a big animal

I was thinking it proves how penetration suffers with a poorly tuned arrow. A 2114 is way, WAY underspined for a 70# compound.

There is the link/ I did a copy and paste.
There is something we have shown new hunters. Take a green deer hide, a mounted, sharp, cut on contact broadhead. Also set up a punch cutter head as used in the video. Now, brace the cut on contact arrow and push the hide down on it. It will push through with some ease. Do the same with the punch cutter. You can almost bend the arrow in half. Just a little something we tried for our own interest in the beginning.
