Ok, I know this is so redundant and apparently there is no cut and dry way out, but as a newbie, i really need some guidance. I’m about to switch to carbon arrows and per the charts (with a 125 gr point) its showing i need a 250(Carbon express heritage) However, im shooting a 200 gr point and wonder with that should i stick w/ the 250 to start or could i increase to 350’s? I really dont understand all this spine business and know i’ll have to tune them but i want a good starting point to without changing my broadheads. Thanks guys.

Nick — these questions regarding precise shaft brands and weights, etc., can be answered only by those who have the same gear, which really limits your feedback as you can see. You should read “redtape’s” thread above, “Help me get EFOC,” and Dr. Ashby’s response, as it’s close to your same question. Good luck. dave

Dave, thanks i checked out the post from Redtape and it is very similar to what im after. Im a little confused as it seems u would go with the stiffer spine and Dr. Ashby recommended weaker spine depending on centershot etc… Man this stuff makes me dizzy. Guess i’ll just go w/ recommendation of the chart with 125 gr head and hope for the best. Thanks again.

All carbon arrows I’ve had come at about 32″, so I start bare-shaft tuning there and cut them down a bit at a time until they can handle the heavy heads and inserts I want to use. So far I’ve not had to go below 29″. Use a small piece of Scotch tape to hold the adapter in place while bare shafting so that it’s easy to pull out if you need to cut. dp
