What is your back-up bow in case something happens to your go-to bow in the middle of the season? Mine is my Bear Super Kodiak. I shoot it almost as comfortably as my Shrew using the same arrows. Although not very pretty because of the poor camo spray-paint job I did on it, it’s a mule, hard-hitting and quieter than any recurve I ever shot! 😀

Right now I have two primary hunting bows. the first is the same TradTech Titan with Winex limbs I’ve been using since 2008. The other is an older Sky Conquest with SF limbs I bought off a friend last year. They both shoot the same arrows the same speed, so the one I choose any given day it a toss up.

You guys are fortunate to have two bows that shoot the same. My backup if I would call it that is my old Browning Wasp. It does not shoot the same arrows the same way, even though by Stewart Slammer R/D longbow is only rated one pound heavier. I keep thinking to tune a few arrows to the Wasp just for fun, but the budget of time or dollars has keep that project on the shelf. best, dwc

Backup bow? Hmm…I reckon it would be my other Thunderchild.

One is #52 @ 28″ and the other is #55 @28″ but otherwise they are exactly the same.

Exactly the same? I think if you look closely you’ll find that one of the two is slightly superfluous 😉

My main bow is a 60# @29″ Northern Mist Whisper. My backup is a 57# @ 29″ Northern Mist Baraga takedown.

My backup bow was mailed three days ago to this guy down-under. But that’s OK because Java Man called last week and my new primary bow is about 2-3 weeks out–Xmas in Oct:D.

I’m not familiar with the term “slightly superfluous,” but when I get a chance, I’ll look it up. 8)

However in fairness, “exactly the same” isn’t totally accurate. One has moose antler overlays and tips…

My primary bow is a Chekmate Hunter II recurve, 56 lbs @ 28 inches. My backup is my 1970’s Bear Kodiak Magnum 46 lbs @ 28 inches, or if it is not handy my ironwood primitive bow (made it myself) 62 lbs @ 28 inches. Love to shoot my bows!

My backup bow is a 1963 Damon Howatt Monterey. I’ll pull it out from time to time but I’ll need it if something happens to my Black Widow PAII. Of course if something happens to my black widow, I’ll probably just kill myself.

They will not shoot the same arrows. If I get lucky enough to kill another one with my widow this year, maybe I’ll pull out the old girl. She shoots really well and is super quiet. IT’s just hard to put down a bow that shoots so much better.

Bear Grizzly. 50# at 28″. A bit heavier than my “go to” Jim Reynolds Thunderstick, which at 45# and light as a feather suits me fine right now. If I ever go back up in a tree, I’ll use it since it’s a bit shorter.
