First of all a quick hullo to everybody, its been too long since I last wandered through. Hope everyone is well and that you all nocked down a few world record critters last season. I myself was skunked on the big stuff (not much time to hunt, the wife and I purchased and fixed up our first house), but may have killed the new P&Y record Red Squirrel. I’ll let you know as soon as the drying period is over.
Now back to the topic of this thread. I just purchased some factory ground double bevel Tusker Concorde’s, and I was wondering if any of you fine folks knew to what degree they come ground?
Best wishes and look forward to talking with you.

Hey mate,
The company recently changed hands down here so things have changed a bit I think. I received some single bevel concordes direct from the manufacturer recently and the angle of the blade according to my rough calculations was about 30 degrees. I filed it down to just under 25 and got in contact with the manufacturer. He was really patient and understanding with me, and happy to pretty well make batches to order, so next time I’m going to tell him exactly what I want in the order.
If you bought them from a shop they might be a batch from before the change of hands so things will be different again 😕
I realise I haven’t answered your question at all, so apologies for wasting your time 😉

No worries Jim, you actually provided quite a bit of info.
Kinda surprised to hear of the ownership change. I had purchased the same heads a year or two back and they didn’t come ground at all, which caused me quite a bit of grief as I hadn’t mastered sharpening yet. Perhaps these new ones that are ground are from the new ownership?
At any rate thanks for the response and enjoy your weather. Wishing I was back in Australia right now.

Schwein — some retailers are now offering Concordes custom-sharpened by KME. I’d call or email Ron for grind info. Good head that I’ve killed elk with, but the steel is only 50 Rc which I find too soft to front the really heavy arrows I shoot. Different folks have different needs.

Thanks for the info Dave. I purchased the Tuskers to be my new Beaver broadhead. They are cheap enough that I don’t mind losing a few in the ol’ Beaver pond 😀

Good to hear from you again, Justin. Congrats on the homeowner status and I hope your new job is still working out for you. We bought a 100+ year old house in 2005 and have been working on it ever since. Kind of a hobby–like dishes and laundry.
Sorry, I don’t know anything about your broadheads. 🙂
