Ok I know the season is fast approaching and most of you won’t have time for watching movies but I just have to recommend War of the Arrows. It’s a Korean period piece in which the hero, Nam-Yi, must rescue his sister from the evil Manchurian invaders – all pretty typical Asian cinema fare I hear you say – but Nam-Yi accomplishes this with his bow and many, many arrows. The action is non-stop and archery based all the way. There’s even an early interpretation of EFOC where a half-pound flat head is used to shoot through tree trunks at its unsuspecting victim! The film’s climax features a fantastic shot of the archer’s paradox too so the appeal to archers goes without saying. Five quid from amazon – you can’t go wrong. Enjoy!
