Sorry for the poor camera work I self film and hunt from the ground….enjoy my rookie hunt 😀

Here is a video of my first ever attempt at a deer. I was watching a doe for the longest time roughly 50 yards away from me. Next thing I see a second doe come into the picture and is very agitated and running around. That doe ends up giving a warning cry and takes off running one direction and the other comes running towards me. I draw back just to watch the deer stop 10 feet from my ground blind and I have no shot. I let the string down slowly and waiting for her head to disappear behind a tree and I drew again. Her head appears from behind the tree and stops again as I am at full draw….I start shaking and get busted. I let an arrow fly but end up hitting a branch….oh well better luck next year.

Cool Man! By the way, I don’t know all the exact details of what happened but I’ve drawn on deer and elk while they were looking straight at me. The bow was already up so all I had to do was draw straight back, they stood there and took it. 😀

Good video. It was intense. Best of luck next outing. Keep at it, you’ll get one. And if you’re not already addicted, you will be after that!!

                Whew. Those shakes, man…those shakes…

I agree, it’s an intense feeling–one I’ve never quite experienced any other way–but, for me, it’s not always an entirely welcomed one. Losing control while under pressure when I want so badly to stay cool and do what I know I can do…that can be tough. I have to admit, I like the jitters much more when they come along with making meat.

Gotta say one more thing…love that bamboo bow!!

I like the sound of the deer coming close. The sweetest sound ever… Of course the sound of the bow was good too!

Thanks for the responses it was such a fun time hunting. Hopefully next year it will be a different video on my getting that deer. The video does not do justice on how close that deer was. When she took off running she was less than 8 feet away from the tip of my arrow!!

This is a great video! I actually got an adrenaline rush when I heard the deer coming but couldn’t yet see it in the picture. Very effective!

It was my first year hunting and I was doing it from a natural ground blind on public land. The week before I had 2 bucks walk right infront of me but could not shoot them because they were not legal size for my area. I went out last weekend and did some more scouting and stump shooting and had an absolute riot. I saw the two deer when I was out there and it put a big smile on my face as I just watched the two sisters walk thru the woods with no fear, until my dog spotted them and started to bark at them, not a good hunting dog 🙂

How far do you figure the deer was from you when you took the shot?

It was on the other side of my ground blind so I would say less than 10 feet away. It was so close to me that I was wondering if my arrow was going to clear the front of my ground blind that is roughly 2-3 feet tall 😀 it was awesome being that close to that deer
